Absolutely delighted that Ricketts has treated this competition with the complete contempt that it deserves, and even more thrilled that we're out. After an up and down start I'd say this is his finest moment in the Town dugout so far. And his worst in the press room because you can't dress up the fact he lied. If he did lie (and it seems like he didn't, really) then it's top quality trolling and I respect it even more.

Players were put on the pitch who are never going to be in the managers plans moving forward eg Loft, Kennedy etc.
Wasted evening

I went and tbh we matched them considering we were playing a mixture of reserves and kids and they had their first team out. I think Ricketts will have learnt a lot from that game, much more than he would have done if we had gone and played 6 first teamers and beat them 3-0.
maybe he should have been cuter with his pre match comments but then again why would he show his hand about team selection.
personally I enjoyed seeing the young lads we have coming though, think Sears, Barnett and Sheleis did well against experienced league two players and Rowlands was my MOM, what a player he could become.
as for the senior pros its was a mixed night, some need to go out on loan, some need to just go

Having now read the Star article it said he was weighing up options. We have made 10/11 changes in this competition under Askey, Coyne and Ricketts. I wasn’t surprised or disappointed, and some of the younger players did very well and will have benefited from the experience. It is a pity they won’t get another chance in it now, not sure what Kennedy was doing for their goal. Incidentally, this thread has made me realise I have pretty much stopped reading managers comments, before or after matches. Perhaps that was down to Askey, but there just doesn’t seem much point

I really hope Manchester City and Chelsea meet in the final. That will hopefully show this competition up for the shambolic fraud it is.

I really hope Manchester City... Well they're well on their way to the League Cup final anyhow. Got to feel for Burton, you've made it this far but this can't be fun. I suspect we're at the stage where Guardiola may have even mentioned at half time to take it easy so as not to embarrass Burton too much*. It could be a cricket score this... *Or maybe not...

I know I sound like an old man now but this can't be good this; for the game, for English football.

Port Vale put out their full side. So a respectable result. Except for the fact that after watching Town for over 60 years, that is without doubt the worst Vale side that I have seen.

I was wondering last night whether Manchester City would be capable to putting a side in all four divisions and having a decent chance of winning all four of them... I doubt they're too far off that...

Loft should be next to go. Can't see Ricketts keeping him it was clear very early on loft was not good enough which considering he spent most of the last years in he physio room is hardly a surprise ,did we not bring him in on a years contract so we would have to pay him out to release him and in the current midfield after grant he is the only defensive midfielder.
