In the years we've been at the new ground I've never seen the roof of the North Stand flex that much.
Perhaps someone who has more structural engineering knowledge can advise if it's designed to flex that much.

Apparently yes it is designed that way. A couple of years after the move to the new stadium Richie and myself were cutting the pitch in a howling gale. We were both in the centre circle heading towards the Away end.A massive gust blew and what we saw made us stop dead as we could not believe it and wanted to check with each other we had witnessed what we thought we had. Basically it appeared the whole roof lifted a couple of feet and came back down. The noise was enough to be heard over Led Zeppelin on my headphones. We spoke to the stadium safety officer at the time who got in touch with the construction company which said it was a design feature.

I don't think some of the Fleetwood fans thought it was supposed to move like that!

The noise it made was quite scary, was surreal seeing the roof move that much

It didn't look safe to me.

if I'd have been sat under it is have left!! Noise was horrendous and you could see the roof physically lifting. I'm sure it's designed to do that but at times it looked and sounded pretty scary.

I thought it looked more dangerous than our midfield and strikers.

I thought it looked more dangerous than our midfield and strikers. Sooty and Sweep would look more dangerous than our midfield.....and probably pick up fewer yellow cards.

I thought it looked more dangerous than our midfield and strikers. Sooty and Sweep would look more dangerous than out midfield.....and probably pick up fewer yellow cards. There might have been more communication too.

When there's that large a span of steel there will be a degree of flex in the structure.

When there's that large a span of steel there will be a degree of flex in the structure. I think the fact that this is a legitimate comment on a post-match thread says a lot about the Town at the moment.
