Indeed. Several times during this saga I have wondered if it's the same agent. No wonder clubs and managers on the whole loathe them. Someone on here thought that Demetriou had the same agent!

Shrewsbury have rejected an offer from Burnley for winger Josh Ginnelly.
The 18-year-old will not re-sign with the Shrews and has been training with the Clarets for over a week.
The Shrews have been told he will not stay at the Sky Bet League One side but chief executive Matt Williams insisted they will not accept Burnley's opening offer.
Williams told the Shropshire Star: "Burnley made us an offer but we turned it down and told them what we felt we'd get at a tribunal. They have left their offer on the table and gone away to look at their next step. His agent told us he definitely won't be signing for us.

His agent is obviously a class act reminding Town that he could go abroad! Obviously trying to threaten us with the fact that we would get nothing. !

Fair play rejecting it.
However how long will it now rumble on for?

I guess it's for Burnley to decide whether they want him enough to sign him anyway and take their chances with the tribunal. As we've told them what we're expecting they might just up their offer.
I hope so. Not bothered where he goes as long as we get some cash and the sooner the better.

His agent sounds a right bully so watch it in the future young Josh. However, at least we know where we are now. Pity it them so long to tell us. What a good thing we have a Chief Exec who won't be bullied!!!!

With the fact he's only been here a couple of years and hasn't contributed in the first team I wouldn't hold out for a huge fee via a tribunal, let's hope Burnley offer an acceptable amount so we can get it over and done with and use the funds for our own benefit, instead of waiting weeks and months for the fee to be decided outside of our hands.
Agree a fee and include add ons for accomplishments plus a sell on clause, if he doesn't make it then we still have the initial fee, if he does make it we'll be recieving funds over a longer period.
I'm glad the club are turning down opening bids for the likes of JG and CG, shows were not going to be bullied or messed around, hopefully we continue to send out a clear message that these players are available but only at a price were happy with.

With respect it's a shame for us it's Burnley, as they aren't known for being mugs with their money like some.
(Not that I think we will be asking over the odds)

If this is his attitude and personality then I think Town are better off without him. Let him try and ply his over inflated ego elsewhere. If he is lucky enough to get signed on with a higher league club, he may then find he is not the player he thought he was. Still best of luck to him. It will be a tough and rocky road.

They are also known as being a tough bunch and not suffering fools gladly. Let's hope Josh and his agent are up to it all.

His agent doesn't sound like he's handled this one well from what we know but I can't see too much wrong with reminding us what would happen if he goes abroad, that's just fair game when it comes to negotiating and is no different to Williams reminding Burnley what could happen if it goes to tribunal

His agent threatening us that Ginnelly could move abroad or play for a Conference North side? What benefit could that be to Ginnelly?
Words fail me as to the credibility of that agent. Ginnelly is completely away with the fairies in being advised by him. Nice of him to finally pick up the phone though.

It's a shame that a club with tens of millions in parachute payments sloshing around should be making such derisory offers for young players, even more of a shame that players allow their agents to make threats to clubs in order to line their own pockets.
How the hell the Premier League clubs were allowed to push through the new compensation scheme is beyond me, small clubs like us are less likely than ever to get a fair return on players we have developed...............

It's high time the authorities stopped that nonsense - how can it be right for no compensation to be payable just because a player goes to Scotland or anywhere other than England. No compensation if they go to non-league either apparently which seems a little off too, after all it wouldn't be much if a player was going downwards.

As unpalatable as it is for some the agent is simply acting in the best interests for his client. Ginnelly's agent has promised him a move to a much bigger club and it looks like he has certainly delivered. Agents and clubs often play hardball. I'm not surprised that Josh's agent 'reminded' the club about his client's options. Our refusal to accept the offer from Burnley could scupper the deal entirely. Hopefully Burnley sign the lad up. We get a sizable performance related tribunal fee and we all get to focus on what really matters.

Now you're making a different point. Initially you were talking about the agent mentioning that his client could go abroad. Nobody would think that the agent not keeping his parent club informed was a good thing to do

And I suspect that this attitude is what has made MW dig his heels in. At any rate it won't have helped the negotiations or Ginnelly.

I wonder where his parents moral guidance is for Josh, I would have told my son it is only polite to just advise your club who offered you a contract and keep them informed, nothing changes with his efforts to see how he can advance his career and his politeness would have ben appreciated
I can only come to the conclusion his agent has said under no circumstances contact the club as I am trying to play hardball to get you the best deal!(Oh and get me the best deal too!)

Apparently Rangers are now in for him, but that does seem convenient timing, possibly something made up by his clown of an agent.

The word up here is that we rejected a bid of 400k. How much do we think we are going to get for a player who we've only schooled for 2 years and has played a handful of mins in the first team.
If the bid amount rumours are correct and we use the Collins tribunal case as a guideline, then could we have dropped the ball with this one?
I trust MW to do the right thing however and since it's also been reported that Burnley are to come back with a second bid we could be getting much more for the lad than I certainly hoped!
Let's hope we can tie it up quickly and move on. Millwall next Saturday!

Talking to a colleague up near Burnley who appears well informed, he reckons they will be back with another offer, they've had 12 million in recently, quite apart from the parachute money! We will see. Surely the lad is not worth £400K yet?.

Its a bit of a gamble
look at all this - Quite a range of initial fees to sell on fees, but all fairly high. Think the bigger the club after your player the better the chance of a good tribunal, but when alls said and done when looking at the PFCC criteria they use its very complicated.
GEORGE PORTER
Porter had made 34 league appearances for Leyton Orient between the age of 18 and 20. He rejected a new two year contract offer, and instead signed a three year contract with the Championship club Burnley.
The PFCC decided that Burnley should pay Leyton Orient an initial compensation fee of £90,000.
Additionally, Burnley were to pay Leyton Orient a further £17,500 after the player has made 15, 30, 45 and 60 appearances (i.e. a total further potential payment of £70,000).
Burnley would also pay Leyton Orient a further sum of £100,000 if Burnley were promoted to the Premier League in the next three seasons and assuming the player remains at the club and had played at least 23 matches in the promotion season.
Leyton Orient should receive 16.5% of any profit made by Burnley in selling the player to another club at any point in the future.
AARON CRESWELL
Aaron Creswell had made 70 or so league appearances for Tranmere Rovers when, aged 21, he rejected a new long term contract offer. He signed for the Championship club Ipswich Town on a three year contract. The PFCC decided that Ipswich Town should pay Tranmere Rovers an initial compensation fee of £240,000. An additional £45,000 was ordered in respect of the player making 15, 30, 45 and 60 appearances for Ipswich Town. An additional £100,000 was ordered should Ipswich Town achieve promotion to the Premier League in the next 3 seasons. Tranmere Rovers are to receive 20% of any profit made by Ipswich Town in selling the player to another club at any point in the future.
ROBERT HALL
Robert Hall had signed a professional contract at West Ham aged 17, and made four first team league appearances for West Ham. He also enjoyed successful loan spells, including in particular at Birmingham City and represented England at under 16 through to under 19 level. Allowing his contract to expire, aged 20 he signed a three year contract at Bolton Wanderers.
The PFCC decided that Bolton should pay West Ham an initial compensation fee of £450,000. Additionally, £250,000 will be due if Bolton are promoted to the Premier League in the next 3 seasons £2,500 per appearance was ordered for the first 100 appearances (for Bolton) in the Championship, or £10,000 per appearance for the first 100 appearances (for Bolton) if in the Premier League 20% of any profit made by Bolton Wanderers in selling the player to another club at any point in the future will be payable to West Ham.
ANTHONY STRAKER
Anthony Straker joined Aldershot aged 18 having been released by Crystal Palace and went on to make in the region of 200 appearances in the Conference and League Two. He rejected a new contract, and aged 22 signed for Southend United on a two year deal.
The PFCC decided that Southend United should pay Aldershot an initial compensation fee of £17,500. Additionally, Southend United would pay an additional £5,000 if they won promotion to League One during the two year contract.
Southend will also pay Aldershot 20% of any profit it makes from selling the player to another club at any point in the future.
JED STEER
Jed had spent all of his youth career at Norwich City and turned professional aged 17. He made his first team debut for Norwich City in the FA Cup, away to WBA, in what would be his only first team appearance for the Canaries. He enjoyed successful loan periods at Cambridge and Yeovil Town, and played for England U16, U17 and U19. Jed was regarded by Norwich City as one of the best young goalkeepers in the country. He allowed his contract to expire and signed for Premier League club Aston Villa, immediately becoming their no.2 keeper.
The PFCC ordered that Aston Villa pay Norwich City an initial compensation fee of £450,000.
Additionally, if Jed represents England Under 21 and the full senior side, Norwich City will be paid a further £225,000. Appearances for Aston Villa trigger further payments, which in total could amount to a maximum sum of £500,000.
Aston Villa will also need to pay Norwich 20% of any profit they make from selling the player to another club at any point in the future.
