Hmmmm
Population of Russia = 144 Million Population of Wales = 3 Million
Just think of all that TV revenue that UEFA will get

I kind of agree - on one hand it seemed a bit sour grapes and all that but on the other it does seem one rule for one team and another rule for another.

I am 100% behind the decision, and am disappointed in the FAW for taking it this far.

Can I just send my heartfelt condolensces to the Welsh team. It is really sad that that gippo winger will never appear at a major finals event, similarly the Les Battersby lookalike at centre forward. On the plus side that blond girl in midfield has all summer to get her hair cut and the Cardiff Lad up front can have that long awaited face surgery.
Rhyl v Arsenal, I can't wait......................

How can it be sour grapes..?? Why should they not persued it..??
FIFA dock 6 points for Cameroon for wearing the wrong kit and UEFA let in Russia for a cheating drug taking nation to a major tournament.
The British 4x4 relay team get their medals taken off them, yet the Russia football team are allowed to play in a major tournament when one of their team members was caught drug taking.
Therefore, give Sammy all the Speed and 'E's and drugs he needs to whizz down the wing even faster.. it wont matter as only he will get banned and the club will not get punished nor have to replay their game.
Hope Russia get thumped.
How can you be 100% behind the decision.. PLEASE EXPLAIN !

He played crap and did not take the drug knowingly. Months passed before the result was known and you were resigned to having lost the game. All of a sudden, the drugs result, THIS EFFECTED THE RESULT OF THE GAME ? It didn't and every sane thinking person who saw the game knows it. To make the fuss about it that the Welsh have is a joke. An appeal, ok, just on the offchance UEFA go PC made but sense prevailed. But the continued protestations after that that this Ruski played out of his skin were absolute bollox. You ask anyone to watch the game and spot the player on drugs and most people would have gone for Savage, not the Russian Lad Its the trying to get in through the back door when you know you were beaten fair and square (by your inability to beat other Spud countries, not just Russia) that irks people most. Was told by a LOW official some days ago how much the Welsh FA have forked out to take it this far. If I'd paid fees to them and they'd squandered it on that appeal I'd be miffed

Next time I see Rio Ill tell him to phone you for your advice to help him get off his ban then. A drug was in his body... he was caught... end of story. Its different in other team olympic sports.. football should be the same. PS whats all this 'your' team..? I support Scotland

As a West Ham fan I recommended RIO be given 10 years. And what Ban did Man U get ? None. This guys case prove him to be a lot more innocent than RIO in my opinion, but not withstanding that, you would ban the player not the team surely as the Premier league did

but there was no proof Rio WAS on drugs playing for Man Utd.
The fact is, a player played in an UEFA Qualifyer under the influence of drugs. To say he didnt influence anything is not applicable. HE WAS ON THE FIELD OF PLAY therefore was an influence.
Your argument is like oh sorry officer for driving with 5 pints in my blood system but I never killed anyone and was driving safely.
Just like the GB relay team got their medals taken off them, Russia should be banned from the competition. It does not matter if its Wales, Latvia, Turkey or whoever who takes their place. Wales were after justice.

FAO Ratcliffesghosthonestly "He played cr@p and did not take the drug knowingly." I'm an athlete an taking the drug knowingly or not couts for bugger all. I could get banned for taking Vicks or Lemsip when i have a cold, even if i didnt know they had banned substances in. The fact is, the Russian was under the influence of banned substances during a qualifying match - Russia should be kicked out. The footballers are as bad as the drugged-up athletes.

I would love Wales to appear at a major competition, its a lifelong dream of mine, but even I can't see why we went for a 3rd appeal. It was NEVER going to be successful and just seems a waste of money. Saying that, I can't believe the verdict went against us first time round. FIFA wanted to relegate Man U over the Rio incident and he didnt even take drugs...here they had a great chance to make a stand and set a precedent against these cheats, but they well and truly bottled it Like Matt said, if the whole British relay team can be punished for one mans wrong doing, why shouldn't the Russian football team be treated the same

I'm not doing the RIO thing again, suffice to say even the most hardened MAN u fans have confessed to me the evidence is hugely stacked against him.
Off again on a technicality re the on the pitch bit. FACT IS THOSE DRUGS DID NOT AID HIS PERFORMANCE, which is where the "by taking them he held an unfair advantage" bit falls down badly and where you revert to the "Please Sir Ruskis broke a rule" snotty kid arguement, which has narked most people .

UEFA make a stand, a strong stand against Racism.
They let in little Aalborg from Denmark into the 1995 Champions League after they complained Spartak Moscow bribed the refs with mink coats.
Yet they allow Russia to play when a player was caught with a banned substance in his blood.
And to cap it all like I said FIFA dock 6 points from the Cameroon team for wearing the wrong kit.

the decision was never going to go our way and was a big waste of time. we lost to russia because they were better than us. if we have to get to a major finals on a technicality then that is just sad. i agree that it was just embarrasing this whole thing will make getting to germany and beating england on the was so much better aswell

maybe they should just have rematch and replace that russian drug fella, and see if it makes any difference... in fact just have a rematch WITHOUT replacing the drug fella and see if they can beat 10 men.... my bets still on russia

The difference with the Rusedski case was that he was given the banned substance by the tennis governing body (think it was the LTA) - and they were given to most people on the circuit - therefore he did not take them off his own freewill and there was little advantage to be gained because so many others had taken the same substance

Absolute s**t RG.
50% of the Russian players tested were tested positive for banned drugs.
All comments after the Millenium Stadium game were concentrated on how Russia deserved the victory - how their players were far less drained than Wales'.
Now we know why.
Never actually cared if Wales were put back in the tournament - we missed our chance - but for Russia to be there in June sickens me.

Hmm......that was after the LTA had given specific warnings regarding suppliments too wasn't it........
Korda, didn't win that unknowingly arguement, neither did our slalom skier thanks to Vicks US formula.
There should be one rule for ALL sports, and it should be consistantly applied. Missing the test should be as bad as failing it, and either the whole team is punished or not.
Still, the legal system still can't get it's act together on consistancy after hundreds of years, so I guess we'll be having similar debates for a few more decades in sport!

However on a more serious note, your Russian sympathies have been noted and you will be asked to explain a number of Stalin's economic policies on the board, in full, next week.
