Why oh why did BBC not keep this in house. Clarkson had to go IMO, but BBC made to look idiots.

Quite right to. Punch someone at work = gross misconduct and off you go. Lucky not to be referred to police for assault.
Russel Crowe was on tv this morning and said (paraphrase) that he had some sympathy with clarkson, after a long day all you want to do is eat and sleep.
Well yes i know that feeling very very well, as do many many people, but we don't use it as an excuse to act like a five year old and lash out at the boss.

Glad he's gone. I might not get quite so annoyed when my son has Top Gear on and I am subconsciously listening to a pompous, self- centred bag of wind.

Love or hate him, this guy wont be out of work for long. Top Gear is shown all over the world and makes the BBC lots of money. Correct decision though.

Agree and the amount of money they make (not earn) should make it much easier to keep their cool. If only the BBC had done the same with that Brand bloke.

I wonder what will happen now to the two stooges that make up the supporting act, and laugh at his jokes.

Think the BBC has come out of this well. They didn't break the story so had no option to keep it quiet. However, they dealt with the disciplinary side privately and made a decision that goes against their own commercial interests but shows that "the talent" is bound by the same code as other staff. Seems like good management.
If anyone thinks Clarkson deserves special treatment they might ask themselves if they'd think the same if their boss put them in A&E but, as a special case, was let off.
I've always thought "Jeremy Clarkson" was a deliberately provocative and challenging persona being acted out by a clever Yorkshireman. It was enjoyable but, like Top Gear itself, has become increasingly jaded and formulaic. I expect someone will hire Clarkson, pinch the format and remake it on a commercial channel. I suspect it might already have peaked commercially though.

I hope he finds work again and soon anyhows. I can't say I watch Top Gear (and I guess that's pretty much all he's in, so not a fan as it were) but I do find it highly entertaining how he seems to wind so many people up. Its hilarious.

Not so,funny if you happen to be one of his producers apparently. I hope the producer has other work. Couldn't care less about an over opinionated, over paid, moron of a presenter.

Thanks for that. Typical me - all the time it's been going on I have been wondering about the producer and how he must be feeling.

'Top Gear' has become 'Last of the Summer Wine' with a mid life crisis.
There's loads of talented people around who can rescue the programme and make it watchable once more.

Listening to some of the drivel on R5 anybody would think he's some kind of political prisoner. It's hardly going to damage his career is it? Unlike most mere mortals he'll walk straight into another well paid job no doubt. Will he have learnt anything from the episode -probably not.

What with this, AND Zane leaving One Direction, I'm in bits, I really am. WHAT? O.M.G! This will surely cause a shift in the OD powerbase - this could have far reaching consquences.............I recommend round the clock air strikes of the OD strongholds and a crackdown on sites promoting them. If need this should be brought before NATO for immediate action.

It's namby-pamby PC gone mad when a fellow can't t**t a junior colleague in the face for not promptly serving up steak after a hard day's talking b******s.
They will probably replace Top Gear with some programme about yoghurt fuelled cars made by Fair Trade.
We might as well all go and live in North Korea.

reports are Hammond and May will leave also.
I reckon Channel 4 or Sky 1 will have a new tv program starting in January 2016 to clash with the planned new series of top Gear on bbc

They're not daft, they know which side their bread is buttered on I'm sure. They'll be back on our screens in the not too distant future. Much to the delight of everyone I'm sure.
