Of course Leutwiler shouldn't have put so many kicks straight into touch. Same as Collins should have been able to control the balls to him once in a while. Didn't notice any sarcastic cheering when our leading scorer managed occasionally to control the ball though.
Mellon was right, the crowd was no better than the team and both need to do better.
Sarcastic cheering of any of our players can't help. And playing a possession game when 1-0 up with 10 men is only sensible. Yes, play it forward every time if the pass is on but let's not start thinking playing balls into channels for hopeful chasers is positive football.

Of course Leutwiler shouldn't have put so many kicks straight into touch. A very kind and tolerant way of regarding the situation, after the 4th kick sailed over Shrpe's head into touch I was reminded of Oscar Wilde's words; 'to put one kick into touch may be unfortunate, to put 4 seems like carelessness'.

Fair enough but did a similar thought cross your mind as Collins carelessly and continuously failed to control the balls played to him? I found myself wondering whether we might have done even better this season if we had a forward with the craft and guile of Hylton rather than the hit and miss graft of Collins.

I don't want to make too much of this as I appreciate that Leutweiler has done well, but the pressure that an outfield player is under in open play is different from that of a 'keeper taking a goal kick.

In my opinion i thought that the Crowd really got behind the team after we went 1-0 up.

Venceremos is clearly not a Collins fan, and admittedly there are a few in the same camp. For me he would be one of the first 5 names on the team sheet every game and clearly is one of our best players and still justifies a starting place every match so far!

I'm a fan of every Shrewsbury player but I agree I don't think as highly of Collins as you, Fred. I'd have tried a few options without Collins during the three goal droughts the team has suffered this season. Of course he's not solely responsible and I accept he usually works hard. I just don't think his reasonable goal scoring record has always made up for the too frequently indifferent standard of his overall play.
But I'm always happy to be wrong on something like this and of course I'll back him whenever he plays.

Well its obviously something the players and management are aware of in light of recent stories and to be honest I dont blame them if they are feeling annoyed.
We are in the automatic promotion spot having been there for most of the season, we have lost some key players due to injury, we have only lost once at home this season and we are now getting to the crucial end of the season. Yet there are fans who think abusing our players is going to help.
I wont pretend that recent performances have been great but at this stage its all about result. As I've said many times before, there are too many STFC fans who are only willing to make a noise to moan, heaven help them if they actually showed a bit of support for a change

Don't think Town fans are any better or worse than most clubs in the way they cheer when we're winning and moan a bit when we're loosing
Ideally would be great if fans were 100% behind the team 100% of the time, but did find Mellon's arm waving on Saturday a bit cringe worthy. Does seem now the pressure is on one or two players aren't coping as well and the manager needs to address that rather than focus on a few voices in the crowd, which is all it was on Saturday

Can anyone in block 18 or 19 confirm you get away with standing at the home games?
Pondering moving over.

I don't get to go that often but when I do I usually stand in block 18, but you need to be in the back 3 or 4 rows and towards block 19 where there are usually more standing

To be honest 50% 50% of the time would be an improvement! Nerves and questions are understandable at the moment general lack of support is poor, misguided and potentially very damaging

Thing is, we're second. What more do people want?
If you want to see perfect football every single time, go and watch Chelsea. Yes, Saturday wasn't great but a 2-0 win is about as good a result as you can get.
Lawrence was right when he came over telling us to relax. Booing and jeering won't help anyone.
