Hold on a minute, I was 12 in 1974 and spent every daylight hour over The Severn Pitches. I lived the other side of the road. If you are who I think you are, did you not also have trials with W.B.A and have a fondness of West Ham? Doubt you'll admit the last bit

I'll keep it vague then............
Originally defected to Stafford, went with you to Town reserves games on I think Tuesday nights the most memorable of which (for me anyway) was sitting behind Alan Buckley and taking the p*** out of his bald head whilst Steve Hayes scored a forty five yard screamer against Wrexham Reserves.
any use............

Now when posts have appeared on this board about the greatest town goal ever............. How the hell could I have forgotten that goal of Hayes's 45yards AND it rebounded out of the net faster than it went in The crowd, of 90ish went wild, and I lost my pasty!

Appologies WatfordShrew, but now that I know who you are there is one story I must relate........... The two of us used to dissapear with a football over the severn pitches in sundorne for 12 hours a day during school summer holidays in the mid 70's often taking a packed lunch. We and a group of others played endless games until it got dark. One day, out of the blue, WatfordShrew suggested that we walked from the pitches to the top of Haughmond Hill, which you could just about see in the distance......slightly bizzare but I went along with it. Two hours later we found ourselves at the top both completely knackered. Lo and behold, some flusey appears (don't pretend it wasn't pre arranged owd lad ) with her sister. For a further two hours I made the most ridiculous smalltalk with the sister while WatfordShrew went behind the Bushes on some kind of Nature ramble with the young lady, called Jackie if I remember correctly. Took us another two hours to get home, got home in the dark, bollocking off my mum, sent to bed without any tea Bollocking off my dad the next day for refusing to tell him where we'd been and what we'd been up to (Thats what mates are for ) To this day your performance that day rates as one of the greatest stamina displays of all time (forget these poncy marathon runners). I could barely breathe when I got up that hill, you Sir were unreal. Cheers Tony Happy memories

ahh i remember that time back in the day, when palyers were players, and you could get 8 pints of bitter and a baloon ride for half a shilling and still have enough change to get a horse and caridge home. i tell you, the kids of today have no idea........

I noticed on my trip to Shrewsbury today via the training ground and Haughmond Hill that Sundorne Road is closed. Does this mean the Party is off
