Was there much fuss raised when the badge changed to a Shrew in the eighties? What's your point? Are you making a comparison? If so there are many other elements that need to be taken into account. The almost stubborn resistance of the club to making some sort of statement on this matter is baffling.

It is not constructive therefore to start howling at the Chairman when none of us are in possession of the facts. Lets just wait for the statement to be released. It was the howling on here that means we don't have a membership scheme this season. I still don't see any howling here. Just plenty of people hoping it isn't true and begging the club to clarify. Clarify, make the statement, put us in possession of the facts - all the things you kindly suggest we should do instead of howling we are doing on this thread.

I merely described you as being "antagonistic" towards . Which you have been. Consistently, and deliberately. That is not slagging you off. Dave you voiced support to personal response to me, so in my book that is sufficient enough! PS, I am well versed how Everton went about it, and maintained their reputation as "the peoples club".

Was there much fuss raised when the badge changed to a Shrew in the eighties? A little before my time when it was introduced but I know we went back to the Loggerheads after a campaign led by the fanzine lads of 'A Large Scotch'.

Dave again you are wrong, I was present when 2 elder supporters known to the Chairman convinced him to have a look at the membership scheme. His parting words was he would see what he could do. That was on a Friday before he played his footie at 3pm... on the Tuesday the new ticket price structure was announced on the official site.

Did the same two people have a quiet word about Port Vale tickets? Or the Legends Card? I don't doubt that it all helps - but the chairman can (mis)quote single comments on here from more than five years ago in meetings. It definitely makes a difference. Not all the difference it makes is good, granted, but it adds up.

Fred, I fear that that you don't know half of whats going on behind the sceans, and particularly the work the SP have been doing with the support of many others. I have no doubt the two blokes having a chat with the chairman were part of it, as were the communications from the SP, OSC Super Blues, emails from B and A members, print offs from B and A (we know that happens, its a FACT) and other feedback they had. If the chairman is basing all his changes on the views of two of towns old boys, then get them down there quick this afternoon for another word! I have now had the chance to speak with then challenge (if i can on behalf of the fans?) the chairman on numerous occasions. At times I have found what he had to say totally fair and understandable, at times I could not agree. Pretty much like most people I have met in life. I don't doubt for a second he will understand the implications both financially and relation to the fans. Either way, when its made, we will have lots more to discuss, be it good or bad!

Well done Roland!

Perhaps they've changed their minds or is that wrong aswell? Everyone’s allowed to change their minds on things, and it can be a very good thing. Otherwise we’d all be like DMShrew, still continuing vendettas against Matt Richards because of some misplaced comments made after seeing him one game. If FIHS and MorgateHound have truly come round to the cause, then that’s great. (although continuing to give time to redundant arguments such as “What about when we changed to the Shrew badge” make me a bit dubious that it’s really the case.) But it undoubtedly stings to see two of the biggest pro-Clip Art posters, who took great pleasure in trolling threads relating to the campaign, now attempting to lecture us on how and what we should be saying and acting.

Its been a week since the results of the badge vote were published and as far as I have seen there has been nothing from the club. I wouldnt expect them to come out and say what happens next straight away but at least have a public acknowldgement of the matter.
I know some people will say "its only been a week, you cant expect things to change overnight", that is very true but lets not forget that the club announced in May that there would be a vote in August, you would like to think during that time they have thought about what they would do if yes was the majority. I dont expect things to change overnight but Id like to think they have a vision in place.
As for we should wait to see before commenting, this is an independent messageboard, yes we know people at the club read it and at times take things far too personally but if a few comments on here influence this decision then it shows how poorly managed this business is.

Update following recent Supporters Parliament survey on possible badge change Following the recent survey carried out by the Supporters Parliament in respect of the Club's badge, Shrewsbury Town Football Club can confirm that it is now their intention to update and launch a new evolved crest incorporating the traditional loggerheads. It is the Club's vision for the revised emblem to incorporate traditional elements of the Club’s famous badge, whilst underlining its ambition for the future with subtle additions. The Club intends for the updated badge to include the three Loggerheads and Floreat Salopia. Town Chief Executive Matt Williams said: “It's no secret that the Chairman has been a Town supporter all his life and it has been abundantly clear to me during my first few months here that he always wants the best for the Club and the business. “He acknowledges supporter feeling on the badge issue and is also optimistic that changing the badge will be good for business in terms of brand loyalty and merchandise revenue. “Again, with consultation with members of the Supporters Parliament, we plan to imminently share a number of new designs for people to vote on, we want the designs to be a visual representation of what we stand for as a Club. “The Chairman has worked relentlessly during his time at the Club to improve the facilities and I think the fantastic Greenhous Meadow is a credit to him. The playing squad we've assembled over the summer is arguably one of the strongest we have had for some time and everyone here wants to move things forward on and off the field; this change is part of the ongoing root and branch review the Chairman and Board committed to undertake at the end of last season. “Once the vote is finalised the evolved new crest will first appear on replica shirts in the 2015/16 season.” Read more at www.shrewsburytown.com/news/article/10aug14-club-statement-on-club-badge-1906515.aspx#WVYaG1GjjpTBcRbW.99

It certainly feels like this rumour was brought into the public domain deliberately.
By whom and with what purpose we'll never fully know.
But neither do I particularly care. We're all being played by someone, that's part of life.

Oh and by the way, well done to the SP. Now people should get behind it as a way to communicate with and on behalf of the club.

True to form, the OP is wide of the mark as usual.
Still, good news on the badge.

Are there some red faces around now? I'm not sure there are. If you read the thread about it most people are just desperate for clarification.

Wonderful news. The Town's fanbase owes a huge debt of thanks to the individuals involved in running this campaign both from the SP and . Well done also to Mr Wycherley - let's hope he gets the credit that is due (although granted there were some horror shows along the way). A minority of posters in this thread need to get a grip with the incessant anti-RW bile they spew.

Are there some red faces around now? No, but there are a lot of happy faces! To be fair to Jamo, I heard the rumour a few times before he posted, from a couple of decent sources. But let's not dwell on it. Onwards and upwards!
