Team for the town:
@shrewsweb: TOWN LINE-UP: 1 Halstead, 2 Grandison, 3 Demetriou, 4 Woods, 5 Ellis, 6 Goldson, 7 Caton, 8 Wesolowski, 9 Collins, 10 Clarke, 11 Vincent.
Sounds like a 442 again, with Clarke up front with Collins.

Clarke up front? Can't pretend to know much about him.

Clarke up front? Can't pretend to know much about him. May be entirely wrong - I just don't know where he plays. Could be Vincent up front and Clark out wide? But I have assumed from the numbers

Clarke played CM vs WBA and said he prefers to play centrally but can play wide midfield I believe. Could be back 5 with Woods and Demetriou WBs and Vincent up front, 4-5-1 with Collins up top on his own or a 4-4-2.

Any news of who is on the bench?
I assume that Curran and Asante have moved on.

I know its pre season but its nice to see we are decent going forward. As the defence gels it will get better and I'm sure a few clean sheets will be coming our way.

Mellon's got a right headache trying to pick a first team out of this lot!! The strength in depth is really good!
One thing is for sure, there's going to be a strong bench this year!!
Also, he may be kicking himself for bringing in the two keepers as it looks like Burton would be a very capable back up.
Does anyone know, did Caton pull out injured?? He was one of the most exciting players in the previous games.

Enjoyed the game today.
This was my first look at the new squad. Town were superb first half, causing Watford plenty of problems, but lacked the final touch in the penalty box. Akpo and Clark were excellent and Collins chased everything. Town got down both flanks with ease but were undone by a goal against the run of play. Grandson was easily beaten and Watford opened up the defence to score a good goal. Not sure if Demitreu was out of position for the goal.
Second half Watford made major changes and started to cut our defence to ribbons. The second goal was as poor as they come. Corner kick and nobody marking the last man again I would question our left back.
Things improved with the late subs and Robindon and Lawrence looked classy on the ball. Great through ball from Lawrence and superb chip over keeper for Vernons first. Second goal was again well worked and vermin put his second chance if the game in the net.
Watford gave us a good run around and thankfully our defence will not meet many teams of this level in keague 2.
Midfield and attack looked good. The ball was played on the deck and we looked dangerous going forward . However I have concerns about the defence in particular the lad at left back.
PS the grass is looking greener but not quite there yet....

Probably the best performance from the first 3 pre season games. We looked a lot more fluid and the build up play was impressive, only lacking in the final ball. Although it was only a pre season game it was slightly annoying to be 2 goals down as we didn't deserve that, and the game finishing as a draw was a fair reflection.
I don't know how you pick a starting XI from that squad, there's a lot of ability and options. With the likes of Vernon, Robinson, Lawrence, Woods, Wildig and Clarke on the pitch etc, there's a lot of good footballers who like to keep things simple and move the ball around, a pleasure to see so many proper passing footballers in one side.

Just back. Armed with a Peppa pig bag of snacks and drinks for my 2 yr old first game enjoyed the new town fight back. A lot of busy productive players like Clark. Impressed with vernon ' s quality for both goals. funny listening to the crowd in family stand saying so who's he. Where is he from! P.S. my daughter was pleased to tell mum about the football match but less pleased lenny was not there!

The line up in the match report on Town's website is wrong as regards the subs.

We all wanted him to get a hattrick but is that not a tad harsh?

Really enjoyed the game ,played with great spirit and verve . Biggest question posed for Micky is who is the number one keeper Callum Burton picking up the apple cart and upsetting it ,for me easily our best keeper . Play him !!!

Burton is looking good, but Halstead was far more assured in my opinion, with better distribution and handling. Luitweiler has still to be tested due to injury, but again looks promising. Big decisions to be made all over the pitch, but how good is that !!

Halstead looks dodgy to me. Let a very poor goal in yesterday. Kicking looks poor. Decision making questionable, roofed it out yesterday for a throw in when a simple pass was on.
As for the team, look good going forward but final ball needs to improve a lot. Vernon and Akpa-Akpro looked good. Defensively we need to improve, both goals very poor to concede
