"I was talking to Duane Darby today (the Queen and I hate namedroppers) at our valiant, but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to stay in Division Two. He reckons he hasn't played in a team so up for it since Diamonds were down to ten men against Kettering at Rockingham Road in March of the year we were chasing Yeovil for the Conference Championship. He reckons that, had it been Hereford, he would have been less confident, but as it is Shrews are well up for it without taking anything for granted. He's also looking forward to playing against Razor Warburton! Come on Shrews! "

DD has come right and is on fire , i reckon he must be loving this challenge more so than anything at Rushden.

Much as I think he'll do the biz next seasonm whatever league we're in, he is not on fire at the moment.
He needs to improve his support of Lukey on Sunday and forget about some of the more meaningless tussles he's been getting himself into.
Great quote though!

Duane Darby puts in 100% into every game and a player who really does play for the badge.

Duane Darby puts in 100% into every game and a player who really does play for the badge. He didn't on Monday. But his reported comments seem correct - there does seem a qualitative change in the team's attitude compared to the league programme. We played some decent football on Monday and if Luke hadn' been up front on his own for most of the time could have got a result in normal time. There can be no passengers on Sunday, Aldershot are a better side.

Cramb has gone up for about 3 headers all season and played best in pre season and we haven't seen that form in many other games this year

You lot never learn Heres another point that people miss Darby is still loved and respected by all the Rushden fans and they think he was one of there best forwards in years Which of Crambs many many clubs could cramb go back too where he would get such respect - none because like here most founds found his lack of commitment to be staggering annoying asn he never hung around long enough! And im gone from this thread - i cant be bothered with the Cramb should play on Sunday crap - we all know he wont so insted of wanting it put you support behind Darby as he will Actually be playing

Speaking as an ex-keeper, I would not want to see Darby leading the opposing attack. Much as you concentrate on the flight of the ball, on crosses and corners, you are always subconsciously aware, of the old-fashioned centre forward, looking to rough you up. Centre backs will feel the same way - they will not get an easy 90 minutes, marking DD. It has to be a Darby, Rodgers partnership for me.

Which of Crambs many many clubs could cramb go back too where he would get such respect I can't speak for his other clubs, but I know a Doncaster fan who raves about Cramb and, would like to have him back. But I'm not advocating Cramb to start on Sunday. Darby's effort and commitment have won me over. But we should all appreciate that having the skill and ability of Cramb on the bench is a tremendous asset.

"Which is why he isnt playing for them anymore cos hes past his best"
Think you'll find Jonah that DD was sold to us to get him off the wage bill as quickly as possible. They didnt just loan Onandi Lowe to Coventry cos they thought he wasnt worth having. Serious measures have been taken at Rushden to reduce the wage bill since Max Griggs has left and letting DD go was one of them.
I still think hes not hit top form yet and he didnt have his best game on monday but his volley from Sams cross was just pure class.

Cramb has gone up for about 3 headers all season and played best in pre season and we haven't seen that form in many other games this year Going up for headers involves getting your feet off the floor once in a while. It also involves being up with play. It also means looking for the ball when Scott Howie is taking a goal kick If its a target man you want then you need to start with Jimmy Quinn, he's the only w we have in the squad. And of course, Darby will start with Luke Rodgers, even if he is injured and requires a pain killing injections to start the game. And also, even if he contributes as little as he did on Monday he will be substituted too late. However this ridiculous idea that Darby is more committed than Cramb beggars belief. They are both languid and rely on the hard work of others.

I agree we are lacking a striker who is a genuine 6 footer. Looks at the last 10 mins V Exeter to prove my point.

Usually respect Seans posts but if he doubts Darby's contribution to the Barnet game perhaps he should look at the tape again

I've watched it again, and seen a striker who was usually in the wrong part of the pitch......

I can't beleive there is still this cramb or darby arguement. On another day DD would have had 2 goals to his name but for the Barnet keeper. We hav'nt hada striker who holds the ball up as well as DD for a long time and if our midfield supported the front 2 better everybody would be able to see how good DD really is. 12 goals in half a season speak for itself....would have got 20 + easily. (awaiting CC scored 14 until JAN arguement) Yes but who is more committed to the team. you've only got to watch DD reaction when DM's peno went in to see how committed he is to STFC.

For whatever reason DD hasnt been the goal machine I was hoping for.
15 goals from Cramb? in just over half a season. Thats a very good return when you consider how long he has been out of the team and take his previous goals to games ratio into account.
Either way on Sunday we will have to play to Luke Rodgers' and sam Aistons strengths, move the ball quickly about, playing more direct football
