It gave me a jolt to see a post appearing from atcham jack! Thought for a second …...
Gone, missed, but not forgotten.

I was working on a small building site near Oswestry when a car load of them turned up looking for trouble and making threats. The digger driver said if they didn't f*** off he would turn their car over and he didn't care if they were inside it. Never had another visit from them.

Forgive my ignorance of the subject but why did they target Shropshire?

I was on good terms with our ex Chairman, Ken Woodhouse, who of course was a builder in Shropshire.
He was openly very critical of Tomlinson and his mates.

My uncle was a local brickie and we were only talking about this the other month...........he said the pickets were disgusting with their attitude and violent if you didn't subscribe to their view. Tomlinson deserves no review from what I can see and clearly has a blinkered view of what went on, you'd think they were just protesting peacefully if you took in his lies.

Forgive my ignorance of the subject but why did they target Shropshire? Not too far from Liverpool I guess but Telford in particular was one huge building project at the time, I believe it ‘kicked off’ on the Brookside estate in particular.

Yep my mum ran a childrens nursery in Brookside, see earlier post on thread.

I think I attended there in the early 1980’s. I’m all for hard working people taking action if they’re being exploited and feel they absolutely have to, my dad was one of the striking miners in the 1970’s, but the more I read about this I must admit the tactics of Ricky and co did seem to be a little heavy handed.
