Out of interest, how many live TV games are shown in the first round? I'm guessing its two (one on ITV, one on ESPN) and I'd imagine Halifax v Charlton and Morecambe v Sheff Wed would be the two obvious choices in that case.....

Just checked on the ESPN website that they will be screening two live games in the first round..... so we may have a chance of being selected as the third live game.... but I have a feeling Swindon v Huddersfield will be selected with the Di Canio factor.....

As mentioned on another thread, only way our game will be on live is if S4C cover it (has a chance with no Cardiff or Swansea til round 3), we are not a pull for ITV or ESPN unless its an unbelieveable draw, remember Everton guys

My arguement is more about ITV or ESPN finding Shrewsbury Town and an attractive fixture even if it is against lowly non-league teams. I've seen the draw and there are to many other ties that will excite the ITV/ESPN bosses more than our match, as I said possibly S4C for the Welsh angle with Newport, other that its radio salop or go there in my opinion.

i've not really looked at the draw but there is almost certainly going to be a questionable game as usual, one like exeter v walsall where its hardly a shock if either side wins 2-0 i think it should be compulsory to televise potential shocks ours certainly is that actually looking at the draw now without being biased although hard as i think our game is a good one fav must be Halifax Town v Charlton Athletic maybe Barrow v Rotherham Utd we must be close but yes i think we'll miss out

Being commercial broadcasters they'll have an eye of what is likely to generate an audience. Hence, they always tend to go for the largest teams in the bottom divisions (so one of the Sheffield teams). They might do one with hope of an upset (particularly if it involves a team that armchair football supporters might have heard of like Charlton for example).

My point exactly, but you made it better than me Fingers crossed S4C come good
