Never interviewed a 1994 player....
Who would you preffer Stutty.... Considering the limitation is that they have to be on facebook.... you might not have much of a choice!

Maybe the manager? Be good to get an interview with Fred I reckon, although I doubt he is on Facebook!! Still my favorite Town manager. Carried himself very well, a true gentleman from what I could gather. He managed a side in the way that I like to watch my football too, with two quick and skilful wingers. Never understood how Town fans could turn on him as they did. Never forget that away game at Bradford, just did not make sense to me at all. Fans have very short memories. Would like to know his thoughts on that, not just on the promotion but also how things went after we went up… But that season was a joy for Town fans. We were playing great entertaining football, scoring goals and there was a certain ease to it all. Something I’ve not seen from a Town side since. Can still see Chris Withe playing a ball up the line, chasing after it arms pumping with a massive cheesy grin on his face looking towards the main stand as he went (I am pretty sure that was the season we went up). We could do that then because we were a good side and the confidence was just sommat else… Can’t think of another season like it. Even the promotion from the Conference back up to the League wasn’t an enjoyable season (for me anyhow). And for the most part every other since then has been a massive let down… I do wonder whether he is really given the credit he deserves Fred. How many promotions have we gained in all the time we have been in the League since 1950? More to the point, how many titles? Way too many people point to the Wembley trip and his team selection. Can’t understand that for a tin pot cup that for me has no significances at all. It was a day out, that's about it. The man is a legend… Failing that, agree...Spink would be a good choice...

Wayne Clarke was on the pitch at the weekend, so the club should be able to put you in touch with him. Or a few beers up town on a Friday should be enough to track Dean Spink or Mickey Brown down. Failing that my missus works with Mickeys missus................

Will look into it guys...
As the next issue will be number 20 were planning something special, so an interview with a player from that season would fit well....
Shall put the feelers out!
Also when its orgainsed, it will be open to all B and Aers to write any questions they have for the player.

Admittedly the '94 team was a joy to follow, but Fred Davies lost a lot of respect with his team selection at Wembley and his abject attitude towards Liverpool - plus his after match comments about Dave Walton.

Wembley was for me nothing more than a day out and a trip to see town play under the two towers. Never really game the game much thought at all. Just never had any importance to me the JPT…or whatever it’s called. So that never really bothered me…
Interesting comments about Liverpool though, how do you mean abject attitude? I thought the timing of that game more than anything just made it a non event. That and the Town paying respects to Liverpool manager who had died around the time (can’t recall who it was). That was an absolute farce from the club that. There is a time and place but that was not it. I do recall the comments about Dave Walton, that was a tad rum of him…
But even so, he managed Town to a league title. How many other managers have we had to do that? Turner? Don’t recall anyone else. He is in a very, very select few in our history.

Regarding Wembley, I was unhappy that 2 loan players took the places of men who had played in previous rounds and had got us to the final - undeserved and unjustified.
I admit that I may have some personal axe to grind as Kevin Seabury's family were friends of my parents and I wanted Kevin and Paul Evans to play.
Re Liverpool, I remember Fred giving a pre match interview on TV where he spent most of his time saying how great Liverpool were, he was a Scouser and talked like a fan.
Then he sent out a team with one up front who just sat back and didn't challenge, it was as though he wanted Liverpool to win.

Maybe… But I think way too much is made of Wembley for what is a nothing competition. Liverpool was just a crap day and I don’t blame Fred for that; more so the kick off time and the way the club went about things. Pretty much killing the tie before the teams had actually ventured onto the pitch. Way too much respect paid. Football League Third Division (third tier) champions 1979 Football League Third Division (fourth tier) champions 1994 Unless sommat has been missed that’s about it for Town when it comes to League titles in 50 years of playing in the League. Turner with one, Fred with the other. I just don’t think he is given enough credit for what he achieved in '94. He is in a very select band of two when it comes to gaining the Town League honours. How many managers have we had since we joined the Football League? That is a real achievement for Fred that and overshadows (by a fair margin) anything that came about at Wembley (nothing game, not a play off final, a competition for clubs in the bottom two tiers of the League) or the Liverpool tie (one game in many). Yet somehow, it is always those two things that people seem to bring up when talking about Fred rather than the league title he won. That title alone makes him a Town legend for me...

We'll have to disagree on this, getting to Wembley for the first time in our history was a bloody big deal as far as I was concerned.

We'll have to disagree on this, getting to Wembley for the first time in our history was a bloody big deal as far as I was concerned. Me too Had it been such a 'nothing game' then I wouldn't have travelled so far there and might have saved my pocket money! I agree that Davies did exceptionally well in winning the title, truly the best achievement in my time of supporting the town but things such as the Wembley experience a couple of years later were damaging - rather than Seabury not playing, I was annoyed that my favourite player Tommy Lynch wasn't - but the fact is that 2 loan players who the vast majority of fans thought and still think shouldn't have played, played was a little grating. And yeah I can't quite remember the liverpool game as clearly as some but I do remember us being overly nice to them - I think Bob Paisley had just died - but it was like 'we're so sorry, have an easy ride'.

Anyone know where Aiston is teaching? Good on him for getting into a decent career! I don't think he's there at the moment (not seen him doing the footy training with the kids on a Monday anyway ), I think he was off to another school for a bit and then coming back.....................
