Strange one this. Some would say that Mubarak has been instrumental with the Arab nations in solving the problems with Israel. On the other hand, he has kept himself in power by amending constitutional rules which mean that his reign as President remains unchallenged.
What opposition to his power there was, has been quashed, and vote rigging etc. rife. It seems that the greatest threat to him will come from the Brotherhood, and that in itself does not sit easy with the Western world. However, if Democracy is what we all want for the people of this country, we have no right to interfere if the result is not what we percieved.
I shed no tears for Mubarak who has amassed a fortune of $30billion U.S. dollars? I do shed tears for the people of Eygpt, and hope all out civil war is avoided, but fear i will be disappointed.

Stability in the middle east and to prevent the spread of radical islam. yes because we only want democracy when its "one of ours" getting into power. Allah forbid that a country should find democracy then get the kind of goverment they want eh. Much better they remain under the heal. So Mike, you`re in favour of decades of ballot rigging and a violent dicatatorship. Amazing the way that this site has gone downhill since HS joined.
