Very sad we never had the midfield to get the ball to him in the right areas.

Maybe its me, but everytime someone from league1 or 2 is mentioned in the transfer merry go round, someone on here goes, "he,s good, he'd be a good signing etc etc." How the **** do they know, have they seen him play on a regular basis, NO. I f the object of their desire was any good then surely he would stay put, or be sold for a sizeable fee. Their knowledge of players is either fantastic or fantasy!

Yup Robbo off to Torquay.
Stevenage have broken their transfer record to bring in Newport's Craig Reid. Quite a coop! Some big teams tracking him recently.

No mention of Wigan keeper Lee Nicholls on this thread? BBC thinks that Turner has made an out of the Midlands signing. J Robinson to bite us in the bum when Torquay fixture comes up in March?

And use your brain, give me a small player that can tackle and use the ball rather than someone who is 6ft plus with a great ability to give the ball away , can't tackle (even if he is big enough to knock people over) and is generally not up to standard. I realise it's league 2 but rather hoped we might be looking to get to league 1 and that we might want players that can move up with us whereas you seem content with someone who is just league 2 standard. I have a brain thank you very much could you tell me which games this season when the central midfield have come out on top, winning tackle after tackle and driving forward or even won most of the headers in the middle of the park ? i've been to every home game and in to double figures for away games, maybe Crewe away when we rolled our sleeves up and battled. Not knocking GT he's a hero to me, started watching the town when he first arrived, but i do feel since Gary Peters days we've had no power in the middle of the park. Just a response to you saying use your eyes which as you suspect I have, I am not doubting your motive just your opinion that small is useless, as some one said when Emile Heskey was sold for a lot of money "It's a lot to pay for someone to knock other players over". (By the way I'm over 6ft in case you think I have an axe to grind) Just get fed up with people not giving players a chance when they have never seen them play and on another thread posters are wondering why we have so few long serving players, give them a chance and they may surprise us all.

I don't remember Rochdale being a team of giants last season or indeed the Yeovil team of a few years back who got promoted. Both played attractive football.

Torres deal completed. Finally. Surprised he wanted to come to us. He'll probably last a season before we release him on loan to Oxford. Nice of Roland to shell 50 million though.

2255: And with reports flying around that the Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll deals have been completed - I'll bring you the official word when I get it, of course - here is why you should stick with me for the foreseeable future... Looks like Torres & Carroll moves have been completed. I like Carroll but no way is he worth £35m. If I was Newcastle I'd be over the moon. How can a player who's only played 20 Prem games worth that muc? He's been very good but not spectacular. Chelsea v Liverpool on Sunday, what a match that is

Talksport saying Harry Redknapp tried to sign Charlie Adam late on.
Typical of him to try a late deal.

Andy Carroll = Gianluigi Lentini. Massively overpriced young lad who won't justify the fee.

Will he follow in the footsteps of their other great English strikers signed for a fee over the last 20 years? Crouch, Collymore, Heskey.
Anyone know much about Nicholls? Is he a high potential keeper like Daniels or Button, or someone who won't quite make it at the top like Arestidou? If the latter, he's clearly being looked at as a replacement for Hakan Duyan.

Andy Carroll = Gianluigi Lentini. Massively overpriced young lad who won't justify the fee. If you've ever watched him live you wouldn't think that. His off the ball movement is very good, his control is good. Nobody is the prem is a better headerer of the ball. With Suarez alongside this attacking force could be something dangerous!

You cant be telling me that you think 35 million is justified for Andy Carroll? He's a decent player yes, who COULD become a top player but still, thats way over the mark, 20 million at most i'd say.
