Old Trafford it is then. I thought this was done and dusted for some time but I guess it was just hearsay. Well its official now according to the BBC website. Of course we all hope that we don't need the play-off's and we'll be straight up but if it is to be the play off's again I'm happy with this news... What are folks thoughts on this? Anywhere but Wembley for me...

Not happy. Wembley draws a larger crowd as its somewhere you will only ever play if you reach a final (FA cup semi final aside). We could play at OT in the FA or League Cup - its not a nice stadium and not as easy to get to (for me at least). I'm sure it will please a lot on here though as they'll be able to get to visit OT for the first time.

It's a trek from here; but with all our away wins happening in the north west, it could be a lucky omen (clutching at straws I know!) & if it means less heart ache at wembley, I'll don't mind the travel.
plus the last time we had a play off final outside of wembley we won!!

We'd take more support to Manchester than we would to London. It would benefit us if we were to make it a third time...

Would have preferred Cardiff but il take old trafford over the Wembley experience anyday! Too early to predict anything but just have a gut feeling that playoffs and theatre of dreams is our destiny. Would be great way to go up if it all came to pass!

Certainly be easier to get to for us. Besides we have been to Wembley 3 times already and look how much good its done us.
But of course hopefully we wont have to.

definitely a good move imo. its just common sense that league 1 and 2 are unlikely to attract a crowd of over the 70000 odd that old trafford can hold. I would have said they would have gone for arsenal if they could justify lowering capacity to 60,000 or Twickenham. which is a barsteward to get too. great stadium though!

For me Wembley every time - and not just because I live in London. I know we've been there 3 times, and lost each time, but for me Wembley is till the Mecca of football. I reckon too, that every lower league player would like to end their career saying they'd played on the Wembley pitch. Old Trafford is just another ground. Spoke to a premiers**te fan here today on this, and he agrees, playing at Wembley is still a special experience.
Saying that, we could just start playing football like we did back at the start of the season, and this wouldn't even be an issue for us; let the teams below us worry about their playoff venue....

I'd rather have an almost full stadium than a half empty one. Let's face it we can only fill a quarter of Wembley or Old Trafford, so there's still a good chance that we could be heavily out-numbered by the opposition fans with either.

Attended between 15-20 games there and lived within 1/2 mile of the stadium for 2 years. Have you been? The emirates is far superior, Millenium stadium would have been better. Let's face it, we will only take c21-24k people so a Stadium larger than 60k is pushing it - depends on the opposition of course. Have you been to Wembley? The stadium is fantastic. If we hadnt lost at Wembley I think a lot of people's views on the stadium would be different.

Old Trafford was the best choice and is the best and biggest club stadium in the country and it rightly won. We knew before hand that the play off final won't be at Wembley so I don't get your second sentance. As for the third it is the same with Liverpool or Villa. I can see us bringing a large following and winning if we get there.

I've been for events other than the play-off finals and still found it to have a rather clinical, soulless feel and thought that the atmosphere suffered somewhat due to the sheer size of it, even when it was packed out. Quite happy with the move to Old Trafford myself. Much prefer a properly enclosed, purpose-designed football stadium with the fans right on top of the action. Wouldn't have minded the Millenium Stadium either, although that's more because I've never been there and it would be a new experience.

At least if we get there I'd get the pleasure of visiting Old Trafford. Top stadium but I wouldn't set foot around the place for a United PL game.
Like others, wouldn't have minded the Millenium either. Both pretty easy access stadiums for the Town, and if required, we should take a few.
Not sure which teams in the hunt would take a massive following, Vale probably, apart from that maybe us?

Think it's good the play offs have been moved from Wembley - been to new Wembley 4 times now but never again over priced, poor surrounding area and not even that well designed inside unless you are in one of the expensive lower blocks.
Old Trafford is a short hop on the tram from a very good city centre, but my ideal venue would be the millennium stadium - smack in the middle of Cardiff and a great day out

Being in Sale that would do me fine!
I would gladly pass up the opportunity to visit OT for the play off final if we secured automatic promotion. However, winning at old trafford would be just grand...
