You heard it here first!
I'm no Michael Fish but no way on earth the game will be on, don't know what weather service ShrewsWeb is using but haven't give it out to be any warmer at all!

Anything else to do on Boxing Day?

covers have been on and layer of snow insulating pitch .It will be the surrounding carparks /walkways that will mean boxing day off not the pitch imo.

GUTTED... This would have been the first Boxing day game I have been to for many a year due to certain circumstances.. Got the green light to go this year and it looks as though it isnt going to happen.

Irrespective of the outside of the stadium, getting the snow off the top will be a nightmare, we've had about 4-5" more snow today. Unfortunately I think it will be off www.shrewsburytown.co.uk/webcam/

'let's not accidentally start rumours' Poor modding there Im afraid. It's the oldest joke on here Leon but people do fall for misleading titles and miss games There is nothing to stop you having a misleading title and so be it if someone does fall for it I'm sure I've done it myself in the past But........ It's not bad modding It sensible modding

There is a big difference between a misleading title for something funny, and a misleading title for something real.
Someone just glancing at B&A to see if there is any news on the game being on would see a "Game off" thread and could jump to a conclusion.
If you're not happy with that, then I respect that opinion, but you're wrong and I would do it again.
That said, if it is "poor modding" for my ridiculous rushed typo, then I agree. Slap on wrist gleefully accepted.

Sky sports news say pitch inspection 12pm on friday but there's nothing on Shrewsweb.

A Christmas Eve inspection could be good for the chances of a game.
Time to clear the snow and ice, and the inspection takes place before the possible freezing weather from Christmas Eve night to Boxing Day

A few inspections tommorow (Thursday) in league two including Salop at midday according to SSN seems premature a tad.

A few inspections tommorow (Thursday) in league two including Salop at midday according to SSN seems premature a tad. Maybe the inspection also includes reps from the police, council etc to check the safety of the surrounding area as much as to check the pitch? These people might not be available over Christmas but are needed to advise on what needs doing to get the game on Think the reason the Chelsea v man u game got called off at the weekend was due to surrounding area being icy

Is it defo an inspection tomorrow at midday? Seems strange to have the snow clearing start at 11-30 if the inspection is at 12 - must be Friday surely?

Can understand the early pitch inspection but I hope they keep the snow on top of the pitch itself for as long as possible given the severe overnight frosts forecast for the weekend, I take it theyre just going to clear the areas around the stadium first?

... and -15 overnight, according to the BBC. The covers won't be enough to stop the pitch freezing if it really is that cold. Hope the forecast's wrong but I don't hold out much hope for the game if it's not.

In some respects I can understand the early inspection but even if it is deemed Ok tomorrow, surely it would have to be inspected again before ko, if the cold temperatures forecast for the weekend are accurate. Not looking promising IMO.............. club will miss out on a big pay day

Not looking promising IMO.............. club will miss out on a big pay day Do you really think the attendance would be that high given the current weather, which casual fans are going to sit through 2 hours in minus temperature, not many. Far better to play game in April when it could be a massive game and a full house.

Agree that the timing of a rearranged date may still make it an attractive fixture but 3rd v 5th on Boxing Day after a couple of weeks without footy would have been a +7k crowd IMO, cold or not.
