I went to see a client in Montgomery yesterday afternoon. Suffice to say the journey back down the bank from the centre of town was 'interesting' Nearly had a really bad smash sideways with an oncoming 4x4- in slow motion (5mph). Comedy brake pumping/ hand braking (made me go faster?) steering wheel turning and somehow got some grip when we were about 10 feet apart. Cr@pped myself

Ah Fred- I wouldn't have got out of my drive with the previous 5 series! I'm now in a Jag X type estate 2L diesel which had been terrific up until then.

Newport must have a micro climate
Drove from Newport to Loggerheads at around 8am this morning to pick up the daughter. Newport had about 2 inches of lying snow, got up to Tern Hill and drove into blizzard conditions. Got to Loggerheads and there must have been 6 inches of snow on the ground and it was belting down. Drove back to Newport and it was now snowing here as well, but no significant depth on the drive. Then went to Wellington, and back into 6 inches of snow.
Next year i'm going to plant Palm trees in my garden, i am sure they will thrive on the carribean climate we have in Newport

We've had about 3 or 4 inches in Burton overnight, probably a couple of inches in Fradley where I am now. Stopped coming down about an hour ago, roads are pretty good. Well, apart from where a lorry's jacknifed!
