The key to our promotion challenge is to see Mark Wright remaining a Shrewsbury player, I dont know how he has been treated by Bristol Rovers but he is currently very happy with us, he's living back with his family and girlfriend in the Midlands and he enjoys playing regularly to a style of football that suits him as a player, and we are reaping the rewards as a result, I'd like to think that he would want to stay with us, he's certainly been saying it to the local media.

Hmm, I'd like to think he doesnt want to go back, he's certainly been enjoying his football here, however, he is a contracted Bristol Rovers player so there's nothing we or he can do about it if they wanted him back, but I remember when we loaned out Glynn Hurst to Bury a few years ago, he had a fantastic loan spell there, scoring goals for fun, then when the loan spell expired our manager at the time Gary Peters was looking forward to welcoming him back, only problem was that Hurst wanted to stay at Bury where he was appreciated and was doing so well, and a permanent transfer was forced through in the end, I'd like to think a similar situation exists with Wrighty.

Only last week on ShrewsPlayer he stated in his interview that he hopes to be staying here - there's no doubt he's happy at STFC, I doubt very much he'll be winging his way back down the M5.

According to one of his Tweets just a few weeks ago "he's very happy at Shrewsbury and can't see a return to Rovers"

Hope your wrong and i do think you are. 1, He is out of contract end of year. 2, I doubt you will match his needs in terms of cash and contract offer. 3, He comes from near this area west mids, 4, Already said that he wants to stay. 5, Top of our goal charts and sure that he would like to add to that. 6, Praised an appreciated by all at STFC.

The thing is are Rovers any better as a football club than us. If they are then it's surely marginal. We have similar gates - and i assume our facilites are of a similar standard if not better. We also have realistic aspirations of being in League 1 next season where Rovers could easily still get sucked into a relegation battle. As stated earlier he is also settled here. I could understand if his parent club were streets ahed of us - but really whats the appeal for him to head back down there?

Surely, don't want to bring Constable back into it, but if Bristol Rovers didn't keep Wright based on his form here they'd be absolute idiots?

If the Gas want him back after his loan spell then , unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. BUT, do you really want a player who was unhappy playing for your club, and whose fans did'nt really help the situation by giving him dogs abuse. I am led to believe that he is enjoying his time with us probably because he is more settled, being a Midlander and with his family and friends living nearby. He can now concentrate on one thing, playing football, and we are reaping the benefit. Happy days. And Happy Christmas to all in Bristol.

With just half a season left on his Brizzle contract and with him being a Midlander and enjoying his time at GM I really can't see him returning down there. Surely a small fee and a transfer to us in the window is the best for all concerned.

He has a lot of close friends down in Bristol and friends that want him back he does have roots in the midlands but if we offer what i think we are going to it sounds like he could be with us for a couple of years yet and hopefully push us up LEAGUE 1 come on the gas.

i dont want him to go either however it is not up to us or wrighty, it is up to bristol rovers. they got hammered the other night, i really cant see them letting him stay here, if it was down to him i think he would stay. i would probley say that they are a bigger club that us at the moment but like you said they could get sucked in to league 1 and we could be in the top three this season. and that could change quite alot of things.

Not a chance - he won't be going back- as he said himself it was made clear to him by the Gas he was not wanted there. An undisclosed 5 figure fee will be negotiated for his transfer in january. BTW Gasheads, I see Hoskins wants away to Sheff W, seems you have unhappy players who were not treated well at your club and now they are doing well at loanee clubs and Gas are struggling you seem to think they would go backto the gas!

Thats football mate just saying whats coming out of the club from good sources if you have a player struggling then you ship him out on loan cos hes dropped from your team he then improves and hes your property so you then have him back to try and improve you SIMPLES my friend footballs a funny game just hope Ainsworth can cover for Wrighty whilst hes back at Rovers.

I've got a good source at Bristol Rovers, he told me that Gary Peters has done the negotiating for this deal and that Rovers are paying us £50k to take Wright off their hands. Football's a funny game.

You only hear those that moan I think your manager has got higher priorities looking at the league table. Like keeping his job for instance. Unless Mark's a liar, and I'm sure he's not, he wants to stay here in a promotion battle, rather than return to the relegation dogfight with Rovers.

Not his choice he belongs to Bristol Rovers and has a contract that says he is so stop clutching at nothing and keep him fit for us as we will need him to keep us in league 1 and he can get his bonus which will be well deserved by the end of the season.

Money talks......
And I reckon our chairman will back his manager and tempt Bristol Rovers with a decent offer, he's out of contract at the end of the season and could walk leaving The Gas with nowt.

I'm guessing it may well be bad news for us that Trollope has been sacked - unless something has already been agreed!
