I just had a e-mail giving odds for this years winner.
Seems AP mcCoy is the favourite with Westwood and Mcdowel close by. Noticed only one footballer is in contention and that is Paul Scholes.
Tony McCoy 6/5 Graeme McDowell 4/1 Lee Westwood 8/1 Jessica Ennis 12/1 Tom Daley 16/1 Graeme Swann 22/1 Amy Williams 28/1 David Haye 28/1 Paul Scholes 33/1 Phil Taylor 33/1 Mo Farah 33/1 Colin Montgomerie 66/1 Amir Khan 66/1
I peronally think it will be Westwood as he's become world number 1 golfer and won the Ryder Cup, but wouldn't be to shocked if McDowell pips him.
Who u lot going for?

The BBC award is about as relevant as the so-called Eurovision song contest.

Former Hereford United manager, Simon Davey would be my choice, with his excellent win record of 9.09%.

Does Paul Scholes have a personality? Never heard him speak.

Always thought this was a strange title for the award, perhaps it had a different meaning back in the 1950s. I think it is generally accepted that the award is given for services to sport - the Beebs equivalent of a knighthood if you like.
If it was purely for "peronality" then Ian Holloway would have to be in the running,

Tony McCoy 6/5 Graeme McDowell 4/1 Lee Westwood 8/1 Jessica Ennis 12/1 Tom Daley 16/1 Of those I would only know which sport Westwood is associated with. Not a big year for British sport.

Tom Daley awesome to a win a double world and commonwealth games Golds in diving. The best thing is hes only 16 and had to recover from a nasty injury too.

Shame there's no nomination for Ian Hutchinson. Winner of 5 TT's in a week. Fantastic achievement. Takes much more skill than that required of an overpaid footballer.

I don't know whether that's a good thing or not from your point of view TBH, probably means you've got a life rather than the Sky Sports package All of those mentioned are superb, dedicated sportspeople who have had their fair share of exposure this year. Ennis is possibly the pick of the bunch because she is proficient in a number of sports. McDowell has won a major at one of the toughest courses in the world as well as holding his nerve as last man out in the singles to help Europe win the Ryder Cup this year. A P McCoy is probably the greatest National Hunt jockey ever to saddle up and rode the winner in this years Grand National. You could argue that Westwood has been the least successful of those mentioned as he has managed to get to world No.1 without winning a major. However, he is a personal favourite of mine and hope he wins.

if Swanny can spin us to success in the first test or 2 he'll be in with a shout - plus he's got some personality. I really think he'll be our key player for the Ashes if were going to win.

A Hollywood haircut who in mentioning Simon Fuller in his speach sums him totally up AP Mc well deserved for someone who's done more for racing than many

I thik the Beckham award overshadowed the main award and rightly so. Did it ****. The moment that overshadowed the whole night was the fact a true sporting great is so ill, poor old Seve looks like he is blind as he certainly wasn't focussing on the camera during his speech. Oh yes, well done AP. About time.

How Ian Holloway didn't get Coach of the year is beyond me.
Especially as Monty won it.

All of the 10 final contenders would have made a worthy winner. But AP McCoy was probably the best choice overall. I mean lets face it, the guy has broken just about every bone in his body (including his back) and been at the top of his sport for 15 odd years without anyone coming close to challenging him. (oh and I've won a few quid over the years thanks to him as well)

A Hollywood haircut who in mentioning Simon Fuller in his speach sums him totally up Its not just his football achievements he should be recognised for though, he has worked his arse off as a 'ambassador' for the London Olympic bid, the doomed WC 2018 bid and for English football in general, travelling to Trinidad to coach the local kids there just to appease that greedy corrupt t**t Jack Warner is evidence enough of that, I hope the FA give him a full time job in some sort of ambassadorial role if and when he finally decides to return home from the US as no one represents English football better than he does, he's a credit to the game

Personally would have preferred him getting the award after he had retired though.
