The snow got to the electrics apparently.
However, for a £15,000 outlay that board is a disgrace.
Something like the Port Vale board would have been loads better.

Im told there was power to the scoreboard but it was more a case of a software failure (it's controlled via a lap top / computer Apparently) which rendered it useless , but it should be back to normal come the next game

I hope it'll alert the club that we need a better scoreboard, its not a extreme necessity but its a extremely poor scoreboard IMO and the fact its not even used for birthday messages, latest scores from elsewhere, advertising etc means its just worthless, a scoreboard with bright, colourful LED lights (like Port Vale and even Wrexham have one) would suffice or even a Jumbotron screen if it could ever become possible via sponsorship or fundraising from the super blues, Colchester have one at their new stadium......

It's pretty poor, not easy to make out the text because of the glare and the timings have been out several times this season. I'm certain that a new, brighter more colourful board that could accomodate some advertising would pay for itself in no time.

The score board at Wycombe impressed me with advertising to raise revenue as-well as replays and announcements

It's pretty poor. When the floodlights are on you can't see the time from the South Stand, which mosts annoys me

Its not the end of the world, we all know the score anyway. 99.9% of pundits look at it for the clock, there is another clock on the wall of the Control room.
The only addition for me would be half time scores from elsewhere so the gents who keep shouting into a microphone annoyingly would be made redundent.

I mainly use it to look at the clock, but would look at it more if it relayed latest scores from other games, if it displayed birthday messages and maybe SMS messages from fans for a small fee it would generate more money for the club, but its pointless with the useless thing we have at present. Just something with brighter LED lights that can be seen across the ground for day and night games would be a good start, something like this would be good (shame about the club and score though!)

South stand hot water off too, plus the "hot air" dryer blows cold air, surely the cost of provided hot water and a hot hand dryer is nothing in comparison to the leccy they use throughout the rest of the stadium. As for the scoreboard, I only really use it for the clock but it is very Mickey Mouse..

For the record, even though a new scoreboard would be nice, I wouldnt give two hoots about it as long as it meant we signed Wrighty permanently in the transfer window

Yes I think they did. My point was only to say people think there is a huge pot of money at the club. Where is this money supposed to come from. Personally id love to see money spent on players as Schizo mentioned.

A really cheap'n'nasty scoreboard, shameful in a £10m-ish stadium, hopefully its a write-off and the new one might cost more than £3.50

Hopefully we took out an extended warranty on the scoreboard..............and the quality of the pictures on the TV's under the West Stand is now a joke.

We should also go back to the days when the half time scores were displayed on a giant scoreboard and to make sense of it you had to have purchased a programme. That is apart from the parasites who looked over your shoulder.

The tannoy under the west stand wasn't working I asked 6 stewards what the golden gamble was and none knew The scoreboard couldn't tell me either
Had to rely on b&a as usual

I understand what some people are saying about saving the money for players, but surely a new stadium deserves better.
How come Wrexham can have a really good one yet ours is like a 1960's Black & White Telly?
IMO it's the same old thing; The "customer" experience is yet again low on the priority list.
Sh*t covered seats, cr@p organisation for the buffet queues, no hot water or hot hand drying facilities (one cold dryer for 2000 seats in the South Stand), quality of the speaker system under the stands (absolute screeching torcher), dull grey concourses...

For all of Edgar Streets' faults their scoreboard and the way it is used, ie with score updates shown throughout the game etc, is head and shoulders above that that sits over the North Stand.

Theres no denying that the scoreboard is of a poor standard but lets not forget that it was the Super Blues who paid for it. This is a fund raising group and Im sure there would be questions asked if they were spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on something because it looked nice. For all the talk of how it could bring in revenue to the club, I wonder how long something like a giant screen would take to pay for itself. Lets be honest that some fans want something like that simply because it looks good.
If you look at some of the 'extras' in and around the ground such as the scoreboard, the players tunnel, the tv's in the concourses, the walkway behind the West Stand, these were all paid for by the Super Blues. And werent they involved in getting the Power League opened on matchdays too?
Lets be honest that the club have actually done very little for the average fan at the new ground. Basically as far as I can tell the 3 main differences to me at the current ground compared to old that the club are responsible for are:
- I get a seat rather than stand. Prefer to stand but for some people it is preferred. However I gather some of the seats are dirty anyway - I can get a beer at halftime and the food selection is much better. No complaints on that other than the chaos at half time which in the main has been caused by poor stadium design - I can have a p!ss without having to hold my breath - yes but for how much longer
Maybe thats me being negative and people can find other enhancements to my matchday experience?
I guess Im intigued as to whether all these sort of extras were paid for the clubs themselves at other new grounds or whether they also relied on the fans to pay?

I look at it for the clock during the game, but main benefit for me is to see the teams (and subs) listed before kick off
I had no idea who was on subs bench on Saturday - you still can't hear announcements clearly at the back of the West Stand
