Kevin Ratcliffe? Having listened to some of his punditry recently he seems to have the whole game sewn up these days....

Best news I have heard in a long while. Toshack has taken Wales a million miles backwards during his time in charge. He got the job with Wales on the brink of major competition qualification and playing to full houses at the Millennium Stadium. Six years later they are right at the bottom of International football and have had to move away from the Millennium Stadium because the amount of empty seats had just become embarrassing.
His negative style of play and his continuous falling out with players and refusing to pick them has left the International side in a mess.
However, Wales do have a few good young lads coming through and the under 21's have been performing well of late. Hopefully we can get a up and coming manager with fresh and new ideas that can hopefully turn Wales around, regardless if he is Welsh or not. I just pray it isn't Saunders, Rush, Ratcliffe or Brian Flynn.

It should have been Gary Speed, but Sheff Utd have beaten the to it Chris Coleman must be a candidate what about a Savage/Bellamy management dream team

This is great news, as a proud Welshman i can safely say this news is the best i've heard in a long while. How a manager can take a national side and more or less force the most experienced players to quit is beyond me thank god he's going before Bellamy decide's enough is enough.
Toshack has done some good things as Wales manager dont get me wrong giving Bale, Gunter, Collison and Ramsey among others a chance whilst most of them weren't even experienced at club level was a huge risk and has worked well but the negativity surrounding the camp is for all to see.
Ryan Giggs ? give me a minute whilst i laugh, why would a Wales legend take over the Welsh team when their only one game into a new campaign and are almost certainly out of the running already. Give him the job in 5 years time when all the great young prospects are at their peak.

Brian Flynn could well step up from the under 21s to work alongside somebody like Coleman.

Giggs to be asked by the Welsh FA today. Will they have to appoint another manager just for friendlies?

I really really hope Giggs doesnt act stupidly and accept, he's a clever man it could potentially ruin his 'legacy' as a Welsh footballer.

Anyway, there has been a 1pm press conference called by the FAW today. Toshack expected to announce his resignation. It is unclear whether he stays on as manager for the October Qualifiers (Bulgaria at home and Switzerland away).
It is also believed that Ryan Giggs is the FAW's first choice, but he is caught in two minds about it.

I don't think Giggs will do it until his playing career at Manchester United is over.

Just been confirmed by the FAW. He's gone by mutual consent. The latest SkyBet odds on who will replace him are: Listened to the press conference. Toshack was happy to stay on till after the October fixtures, and was still on that mindset until this morning. He did say he'd previously suggested a review at the end of 3 group games. Certainly wasnt mutual to go now, I think the FAW gave him some options and backed him into a corner. I dont think they know who they want. Not a great depth from the list posted, maybe Flynn if staying with Wales, hopefully not Coleman.

Did not know much about the Welsh National team situation until i read posts by the taffys on here. I would think that whoever takes over will eventually inherit what could be a very very good welsh set up in a few years time. There appears to be some cracking players coming through. I wish BALE was English, and RAMSEY.
