Theres plenty of games we all wish we had been to, either ones before our time or ones we had to miss for one reason reason or another. Whats yours?
Before my time:
Game v Wolves in FA Cup, semi final at stake, crowd of 40,000ish with 10,000 plus away fans there. Loved to be have been there
Leicester away in the Cup. Similar to the above but looked to be a very entertaining and incident packed game.
FA Cup game v Chelsea in the 60s. Crowd of 50,000 with anything up to 15,000 from Shrewsbury I believe?
Exeter at home to win promotion in 1979
Game(s) v Middlesbrough to stay up in the 80's. I gather it wasnt the nicest of atmospheres (to put it mildly!!) but obviously massive games. Am I right that there was two end of season games which could have relegated them, the one was a straight forward shoout out between the two of us?
Games during my time but missed for one reason or another:
Autowindscreens game v Bristol Rovers. Cant remember why I didnt go now. Odds stacked against us to get to Wembley, Eagle penalty save and late winner to send us to Wembley for the first time.
FA Cup v Marine. Just to saw I was there to see us score 11. Was actually in town and was going to go to the game but mate talked me out of it
Winning 3-2 at Bury in 93/94. Was supposed to go but someone said the game was in doubt or even off so decided not to. 2-0 down at half time and ended up winning 3-2
Wrexham away 1994, won 1-0. Really wanted to go to this as was starting to get into following town seriously and becoming aware of the rivalry with Wrexham. Always remember wanting to go but couldnt for some reason
Birmingham away in the League Cup under Peters. Not a massive game but regret not going simply because we dont get too many opportunities to visit clubs of that stature and Id never been there. I did have a ticket but didnt go, again havent a clue why

Without doubt, the MK Dons and Bury away play off games, couldnt get time off work for the MK game, and was on a stag weekend at the time of the Bury game, thankfully I still managed to see both games live on TV and celebrated just as wildly as I would be if I was in the ground

I think the all time attendance record at GM against Walsall would have been great just to see what a overcrowded GM looked like with over 20k inside allthough it was stated as 18,917. Also the game against Wrexham in 1950 where it was estimated as 16,000 but apparently over 20k at that game too. The Arsenal and Everton games of the 60's would have been good as would as would the League cup semi final games against rotherham. Exeter at home to seal what now is league one would have been nice too.
In my time as a fan I have missed 2 games of significance, Liverpool in the FA Cup, how did i miss that you may ask, well losing a ticket where i put it or where it went i don't know to this day.
Exeter away the great escape, was on a curfew as for being a naughty boy and wasn't allowed out after 8pm therefore therewas no chance of me getting home before 8pm from Exeter.

Missed the Wembley final v. Gillingham. Why, cos i booked a break away with wifey to go to The Lakes, months before, before checking the date, schoolboy error. Could i have travelled to Wembley from Windermere to see the game....yes. Do i cherish the family jewels.....yes. Therefore, did i travel....NO. Remember going across the Lake in a big steamer type boat, and my mobile went off with a text message from my mate which said two words which i think were "oh dear."
Sad to have missed the M.K.DONS game at their place, after drawing 0 - 0 at ours. Believe the atmosphere was amazing. My lad tells me they were still playing the goal celebration music after they equalized when COOKIE smashed home our winner. When most of us look back the list of games we wished we had seen can get frightening, so brave the cold, damp, long drives and s**te results and never forget to shout C.O.Y.B.

Lots of games I've missed, especially during the 15 years I was playing on Saturdays!
However, my top 3 would be to be at Bradford to see Arthur Rowley break the British goal scoring record, Preston for the 3rd replay v. Carlisle where Peter Broadbent scored a header(!) and the FA Cup win against Allison's Manchester City.

Wolves in the Cup. Missed all in the FA Cup run of 78/9. Was only just getting interested and went to the last few league games of the promotion season and was hooked for over 20 years missing only a handful of games after then.
Great Escape at Exeter. Thought the writing was on the wall weeks before with the totally inept performances and just couldn't bear the long trip home having gone down. The feeling was just packed away for another few years.

Not quite the celebration music but the plastic cockneys at the side of us were in the middle of "Your not singing any...........oh sh!t" Brilliant to shut them up - THEM especially

, Preston for the 3rd replay v. Carlisle Was that the one where loads of town fans had left/were leaving until a late equaliser? Im sure I read somewhere that Bill Shankley said it was the most exciting game of football he had witnessed?

I can see that. Have you ever been to a decent Town game? During my time as a supporter of the old STFC, I rarely missed a match of note. Probably Carlisle away in 2005/2006. A heroic 2-2 draw against the league's best side.

Everton at home FA Cup, and great escape at Exeter. Very few people will have seen every great game so I can't complain as i have seen my fair share of great occasions.

play-off final against bristol, two good tickets for me and my lad 100 quids worth. the worst toothache i ever had turned into an infection, ended up in bed with incredible pain listening to us lose, whilst the wife and kids went to watch at the inlaws. so missed the first pro game at the new wembley, wasted a load of money and worst of all let my lad down. probably the worst day of my life, would wipe the memory if i could good thread feedo

I think so, I seem to remember Richard (Cuyahoga Blue) saying it was his most memorable game.

Probably Carlisle away in 2005/2006. A heroic 2-2 draw against the league's best side. Remember thinking before that match that we were going to get thrashed considering how good Carlisle were at the time (even if they were managed by that useless twit) and considering the number of players out we had, a real heroic effort that night from Salop which typified the Gary Peters era IMO, the picture of a muddied Joe Hart and Gavin Cadwallader (or was it Gavin Cowan?) giving each other a congratulatory hug at the end of that match still sticks in my mind as a memory of that game

Was at the famous Exeter game when we won promotion, standing behind the goal at the Station end. Suffered the worst attack of piles i have ever had and this took away some of the excitement for me. If any of you have had piles, you'll know what i mean.

Final game of 1978/79 season when we beat Exeter to win the third division championship and promotion to the second tier. I'm sure the second leg of the Welsh Cup final at home to Wrexham was the very final game of that season...nice last minute winner if I remember

All of them these days... But specifically last season's match at Burton - sadly I was all set to go but ended up stuck in a hospital in Stoke. Missed some major p-taking around here after that one. This season though...

Several during the Div.2 years e.g. wins at West Ham, Chelsea, Leeds, Man City. Everton FA Cup - away having rehab after breaking my leg. Bury Play-off semi - Had to work Exeter - great escape. Working again. Aldershot FA Cup 78-79 Only FA Cup match I missed that season. All set to travel to the first game which was postponed because of the weather, couldn't make the rearranged match because of work.

Also missed the final game of 78/79 against Exeter. Unfortunately away on a geography field trip with a group of school kids all that week.
Attended all the other home games that season including a night match v Colchester, having driven through deep snow expecting it to be called off at any moment.
