Very disapointed, but not surprised. It makes it more amazing we got the Olympics really. Its no secret FIFA have got it in for us. We keep winning or doing well in the Champions League and our Premiership is doing well etc, allbeit with foriegn players. ... Hasn't the olympic movement become a bit more open after the Salt Lake City bribes scandal - I admit I am not really sure about that

Summed up in this snippet from Jacques Rogge ---- Link------> Rogge on FIFA corruption Blatter obviously took it all on board.

Very simple way of looking at it but if FIFA say they want to take the world cup to new places, (arguments for and againt that but thats for another thread) why not make it clear from the outset and even bar countries who have hosted it previously from bidding? Surely would save a lot of time and more importantly money.

Apologies if this has been posted before, I can't be bothered to scroll through 6 pages of this thread but according to Football focus there is talks of the World cup being moved to January for 2022 in Qatar or if it is going to be in the summer there might be air conditioned stadiums.
The choice of Qatar in 2022 is an absolute joke. You can't even have a beer there either.

Read up a little more on this today. The US and Aussies are not happy bunnies at the way they have been treated. Investing fortunes on something that was a done deal already.

The same was said of South Africa. Im pretty sure that it will go ahead, it would be too embarrasing for FIFA

One thought I have is given the wide scope that US authorities and courts seem to have (or think they have) FIFA don't want to upset it. Otherwise it would find itself under serious legal attack.

I believe 1986 was moved to Mexico because Brazil were awarded it and could not do it, but I would expect them to sort it in time for 2014
