Finally , right from the top of the FA, unsubstantiated accusations of collusion over the Spain/Portugal bid. The collusion is pretty clear, it's the legality of it that is unprovable: Link------> Qatar bid Thursday's vote should be revealing. Russia still the favourite according to the bookies.

Triesman resigned over accusations of Russia and Spain colluding. Nothing to do with Qatar.

See I know that FIFA is rotten to the core, but I would absolutely love to be able to see a world cup in this country and I'm sure the majority of football fans would. I don't see what satisfaction I would gain from the moral highground over missing out on a once in a lifetime experience and that is why they get away with it, morality vs self interest. Exactly. And that applies not just to the fans but the members of F.I.F.A. who are afraid to speak there minds in case of recriminations against their associations led by Blatter. Blatter was elected in 1998, 12 years ago. Even Governments of country's are made to stand for re election on a more regular basis. Why this man holds so much power is completely beyond me.His rise to power was even shrouded in accusations of bribery by the President of the Somalian F.A., who accused Blatter of bribing him in return for his vote and a small matter of $100,000. An internal investigation was halted by Blatter who stated that a confidentiality agreement had been broken. So we had the bizarre situation whereby the accused decided whether or not he needed to stand trial. You couldn't make it up. His love affair with the English Premier League does not make good reading as he has openly stated that the League is "one of the major problems in football." And yet this man still holds on to power, but why? i think we all know the answer to that. But, according to todays papers, everything will be alright, Cameron and the equally bent Jack Warner will be holding man to man talks behind closed doors. Isn't that one , if not the main, source of all the problems besetting F.I.F.A. under Blatters leadership, the total lack of transparency. Everything "behind closed doors".No wonder a cloak of secrecy prevails. It would be great for football fans, and the country as a whole, if we were awarded the World Cup. But, if that means that we must remain silent, to not speak out against something that we know is wrong, unethical and corrupt, i would rather we fail than emerge as victorious cowards.
