Incredible scenes at the end of the match, big pitch invasion. So pleased for them, think the commentator summed it up: "There is another United in Manchester." Must be a sickener for Rochdale. Out sung at home, 3rd goal should have been disallowed and then away fans on the pitch. Imagine how we would take it if it was Town vs FC Wanderers of Wolverhampton.

Keeper did not have proper hold of the ball. A goal as far as I am concerned. (Unless it was a goal against Town of course!)

I beat him didn't I? I really beat him. Oh joy, I'm so happy. Christ. The Ned obssession continues. Why do suppossed 'grown men' take great delight in berating and belittling a naive 16yrd? Oh Ned, Feck off and go support Cardiff. There I beat you saddo's to that one. Sarcasm is lost on this lot JT.... I enjoy a bit of banter with Ned. I've only met him once, and we were in Bournemouth! We had a game of golf, it was crazy, man. He knows I'm acting the fool.

There I beat you saddo's to that one. Sarcasm is lost on this lot JT.... With the greatest of respect Mark, you always seem to pounce on me when I mention Ned, even when that wasn't berating or billiting. Was just my way of telling JT there was already a thread about the game. I was practically defending Ned on yesterday's thead before it got closed, I've never critized anything about him other than his posts and I'm certainly not obssessed with him. Anyway, I had this one down as a potential shock, would prefer them to be knocked out though as the TV companies will just keep lapping them up while they're in it. Them vs Utd in the 3rd round would be a great story though Doesn't feel good to have someone on your case huh? Certainly not singled you out. If I had I would be no better than the guys I was having a pop at. Agreed that some of Neds posting can be annoying but that minor issue is compounded further by the horde that follow each of his posts with pointless sniping. For the record, your posts usually offer much more feedo.

What an atmosphere, the ground was rocking. Great tv and had a mate there who was right in the middle and he said apart from the fireworks it was absolutely awesome.

I went last night. Quite amazing really. Fair play to them, they weren't overawed and stuck to it. Exceptional atmosphere - all good humoured - and what a celebration. This gives a good idea And to answer some of your questions. Yes, the relatinship is 'complicated' but at heart, they're United (MUFC) fans as well. Lets hope you go through today and the 2 of you can meet in the next round Good Luck

football Club United of Manchester - FCUM. I assume then, that the American owned lot must be called Soccer Club United of Manchester - _ _ _ _. Brilliant! So funny! So unique! What an imgination and wit to think that one up! Well it was - all those years ago when it was original and amusing. Yaaaawn, yaaaawn and yaaaawn again. Come on exkeeper keep up with the plot. Even dedicated ABU's have long since given up on that one. By the way, how are your own "American owned lot" (x 2) doing this serason

Not a fan of FCUM, hope they crash and burn second half You're entitled to your opinion, of course but any special reason? Most people think it's amazing that they have taken the action they have and tried to bring the game back to their 'grass rootes' public. Not questioning your rights to this point of view but would be genuinly interested in the thought process that has lead you to this (rather dramatic) conclusion. Cheers

And FC didnt need a Portugese international multi million pound striker to cheat Islay Hiya Ghostie. How are things? You're absolutely right of course. Having said that, their all cheating, diving, b'stards when they play for somebody else but we all seem to turn a blind eye when they're on our side. Human nature I suppose - or else an example of standard footy fan bigotry Would be very interesting, though, to see the size of away support if FC were to be drawn at Old Trafford

Too true. It would be surreal really. We'd have a situation wher United (the 'big' one) would be playing the only team in the world who most of the fans - the real ones not the corporates from Croydon! - would accept losing to with good grace. And, at the same time, maybe having few, if any, opposition fans at the game. Probably won't happen but I'd love to see it. Hope you win today. I went to watch the Stockport game and you were exceptional. Play like that today and you might just pull it off. Car park might get full pretty quickly though, with both sets of fans arriving in agicultural vehicles Off now to watch, presumably, one of you local 'teams to hate' but will keep up to date with your score during the afternoon. Cheers

Just watched the video IMalt posted, and I just got the impression it was a load of fans, watching thier team, having a good time, enjoying a superb result (not sure about the pitch invasion) in an atmosphere that seemed to be more about fun that intimidation. Good luck to them - local fans for local football

I'm all for what FC United are about but I was supporting Dale last night. I just feel that it simply doesn mean that much to those supporters of FC United, very much unlike those of established clubs like Dale. So what if FC United would have been dumped out last night? All their fans would simply have to sit about and await for the third round draw when Manchester get drawn out the hat. Dale and the rest of us don't have that option. Its this situation when you see FC United as nowt but a sideshow for the real Manchester club that they still follow...that I do not like (reminds me of the amuteur teams in the Pokal here in Germany)... And why the pitch invasion? I've seen pictures from previous FC United games and again, on the pitch. Why? Its not a non-league thing that, its not tradition, its not grass roots. There is simply no excuse for it...opposition fans simply don't appreciate that at their ground (good natured, who gives a s**te)... I hope they get battered in the next round, the sooner they are out the better...

A breakaway rebel club. It's a stand against the Glazer's mainly but also protests against all the PL pricing and ticketing policies, plus daft o'clock kick-off times dictated by TV. They're all MUFC fans trust me As they play the FA Cup on a Friday night The fans (who own the club) acknowledged that in an interview I read. They received £67,500 from ESPN and said it was because their current priority is to finance their own stadium in Newton Heath (costing £3.5m I think) which they hope to move to next season and also because they felt a responsibility to Rochdale, who'll be paid a similar amount. Seems fair and sensible to me. Circumstances are a bit different from a 12:45 Premier League kick off.

if the Man U fans waving their green and yellow scarves had any integrity they'd be following FCUM.

Guess you have to admire the fans and everyone involved at FCUM
Too many many fans in the Premiership (and I guess lower leagues) moan about the way football is going, how pricey it is, how the fans are messed about etc but dont do anything and instead renew season tickets, buy the kits season in season out etc.
What would happen if the Glazers left? Would the fans of FCUM return to MUFC, abandoning them or have the fans basically chosen not to follow MUFC now and theres no going back?
Also, and I know its a long way off and purely hypothetical, but what if FCUM did progress through the leagues and got to the Championship or even the Premiership. I hear their fans now say they love it where they are because its real football without all the money, the tv etc, however every team wants to progress and play as high as they can. Would the fans accept success but in by doing so they would be moving into an area which goes against a lot of what they stand for?

This chant went on for 16 minutes solid. In a pre-season friendly at Halifax.... and there's only 400 FCUM fans there! Imagine this at the Meadow!

It may be unfair, but it seems to me FCUM fans enjoy being big fishes in a small pond - a bit like Man Utd when they got relegated
I never understood why they did not follow an existing team - Alty, Droylden etc rather than start another one in the area
will their new ground have terracing - I find it odd they chose to play home games at an all seaster ground
