Elton John to play Shrewsbury. As long as we don't give a 3-0 start.

What about the pitch? Groundo's hard work about to be trampled under foot? Important recovery time lost.

Im sure the pitch can cope... and if not im sure that as part of any deals there is a clause to get the concert oranisors to pay for repairs.... I would guess such deals are pretty standard...
+ Its in June, so a little recovery time involved too...

Apparently the capacity is 18,500 As Scooter said the Travle Plan will be intresting! That sounds a tad high, considering you lose an end of the ground and a few rows either side because of limited view with regard to the staging, and you gain the pitch area, I would be surprised if the capacity for such an event was more like 12500/ 13000 tops.

Apparently the capacity is 18,500 As Scooter said the Travle Plan will be intresting! presuming the stage is placed in front of the north stand, the west stand holds 3280, the south stand holds 1908 and roland wycherley stand holds 2817 which makes a total of 8005 the ground capacity itself is 9762 and I cannot see the club being issued with a safety certificate to extend it beyond its full capacity ( I might be wrong of course )

My point I was trying to get accross is that I doubt the local council would grant an extension to the clubs license with reguard ground capacity .

Well I for one will be complaining to the club in the strongest possible terms if I can't use my Season Ticket for this game.
What a shambles.

Surely, now we have the unitary council, negotiations on such things may be easier and more reasoned. They can only be better than that mad shower we had before.

Saw Genesis @ Wembley Stadium in 1986 when the stadium capacity was 100,000 , the local license only permitted 75,000 attendees, mind you that was for 4 nights in a row 300,000, nice earner

Does the announcement of Sir Eltons arrival mean the name of the ground will be changing from The Greenhous Meadow for 1 night only and reverting back to the glory days?
Just as Brian Potters club rose again from the ashes as The Phoenix Club, we will again be able to enjoy The Gay Meadow.
A fantastic coup for Shrewsbury, the football club and Shropshire in general, all he needs on the night is a chorus from the West or South Stand singing " don't bend down, touch your toes - Elton John is 1 of those".

First reaction when I had the text from Salop was to try to find the punchline! Brilliant news and well done to all for again exploiting the off field opportunities We'll be going, but probably not in the 'hospitality' section as MrsJonesey would rather us spend that sort of moola on a week away somewhere

What is interesting is the fact that the original planning permission never allowed for concerts so this is certainly a 'toe in the water job'.
Well done for getting it this far. This is a real coup for STFC.

Are Hello Cleveland supporting? It depends on whether Sir Elton is going to knock out Catch Us if You Can or not! And we have more lavish dressing room demands than him!

Has anyone heard groundo's reaction yet One or two have heard this groundo's reaction. You will have to wait till my book comes out for the full version Im pleased for the club, quite a coup. Just glad its not a Springsteen Meadowlands type 11 night stand £50 a ticket is about right for the big players for gigs nowadays. I spent around £500 16 months back to see AC/DC, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen at 3 separate gigs over 3 nights back to back in London. So £50 sounds cheap to me

Well done to everyone involved at STFC. Before you mock, think of the revenue this concert will bring to Shropshire. Thousands of fans will be spending money in the town. Tremendous achievement. If you don't want him in Shrewsbury, I've got Bishops Castle Public Hall on standby, capacity 150. Look at the street cred here. www.eltonjohn.com/concerts/
