You have to laugh at the younger element saying that this is boring, a joke. and you watch X factor and think thats entertainment you know **** all.
It's about time Shrewsbury attracted some real talent down to the meado, although at £75 I think the price of the most expensive tickets will be beyond my meagre means.

Any profit gained will be eaten up by having to relay the pitch.

Elton John is perfect for the older generation, but not really gonna do much for younger supporters which we should be trying to please and attract to the club. If they could get cheryl cole, Take That etc or some of the X Factor tour then I would be impressed and it would do the club more good than Elton John which caters for the older generation.

Ru having a laugh?? One of the world's biggest selling recording artists ever comes down to the meadow and your not impressed. This will bring some serious cash and publicity to the town. £50 a ticket is about right for the big players for gigs nowadays. Congrats to the club for getting such a big artist

Ok so some of you wanted a major player in on loan and may be a tad dissapointed but town are ploughing forward with exciting promotions and under21 matches and England Ladies games.Where do you expect to start in getting a name for ourselves in putting on a good venue? Rolling Stones followed by Take That on the Sunday.Well Done Every one At Prostar Towers IN putting On aworld class Peformer and Highlighting our Ground AS A Great Venue. Some of you need a "Rocket Man"

Congrats to the club for getting such a big artist It doesn't appeal to me one bit, and having built it up as a major announcement etc, it feels a real let down to me! As I have said elsewhere, for those who like Elton etc, fair enough, but just because I have a differing opinion and taste in music, doesn't mean I have to fall into line with everyone else!

I'm not an elton john fan obviously, but can't believe so many of you are calling this a joke - this is a big announcement and is going to bring in a lot of money for the club!
Even our fantastic new multi million pound theatre that we paid for, hasn't managed to bring in anyone even anywhere near half way famous, so massive credit to the club!

Any of the "Older generation" recall boxing day 1978? As we walked up a narrow road at the back of the main stand at Vicarage Road, a gold coloured Rolls Royce picked its way through the crowd on its way to deliver Reggie Dwight to the main entrance. I am confident that Sir Elton will not be givng those present at GM renditions of the ditties sung to him that afternoon by the Town fans full of the christmas cheer.

Not sure why people are slagging this off.... great coupe for the club, if it sells well makes both EJ and the club some cash, it might be the catalyst for more of this sort of thing at the club for a range of music and bands...
There are plent of folks bemoaning the lack of a large live music venue in Shrewsbury, can the club fill a gap and take all the argo out of an event being held in town so the planners and local NIMBYS will also like it...
I have not love for EJ, but in terms of the commersial side of the club this is cracking news and credit deserves to go to the club for this one....
Somewhere like Cov City make tonnes of money through concernts but in someways thats to big for some artisits to do a stadium tour, however the meadow with what poss around 10-12 k seating and standing for a concert is bang on for smaller bands and artists, and if we could get in some of that income then we would be well set going forward we really would....
5 of these = a corner filled in, or a new transfer record purcase, or something else were always moaning about..... seems like a good pay off for the pitch getting a bit knackered over the summer!

Elton John isn't my cup of tea but fair play for getting a gig on of that scale at the meadow. Will be interesting to see how many attend and quite what the club makes from it - I'd guess they get a fee for the hire and then the gig promotors take over the ground for the day.
Hope it's a success so we can get other acts playing there

The travel plan will be interesting As one of the older generation, I am not that excited musically, but I might think about going, esp if the new album is as good as the reviews Has anyone heard groundo's reaction yet
