One of the bigger ties we could of got, but its a mammoth journey to watch a probable loss. I wonder how many we'll take, probably not many.

A crap draw really
A long trek and a likely defeat in probably a half empty stadium

Christ i hope the players dont read this thread because many fans have already writen us off.
Saints are a Prem team in all but stature and wont be in Div 1 much longer even if we get there.
We have already beaten two Div 1 teams this season so why not a third. Saints have not got the best of home records so all to play for in my book.

Strewth and we moan about players needing a positive attitude.
This is The Cup, did the Staines or Blyth fans have such a negative attitude ?
Southampton are a big name but at one of the lowest points in their history. Basically they are s**te at the moment and massively inconsistent, we should be well up for a bit of giant killing (or should that be 'ex-giant' killing ?) instead of thinking we're going to get stuffed.
Where's the cup spirit ? Southampton really are beatable.

One thing is for certain. We are not in the draw. Load of crap. Make them pick up rubbish outside Liquid in Wrexham on a Sunday morning

I think if we were at home there would be more positivity, thats the advantage Blyth and Staines had, likewise if we were playing well at the moment. Even though they are ex-prem, its still L1 v L2 not exactly thrilling.

This year we have BEATEN 2 strong League 1 teams in Charlton and Oldham! Southampton yes once we're a big name but so were Bradford City! Forget the past they are a League 1 outfit so what's to be scared about! Very beatable if we are on our game. Up the Shrews!

After reading some of the posts on here I have to say I'm shocked. Your already writing the game off like we've lost to them 4-0! Who would everyone rather have? Accrington at home?! The whole point of the cup is so teams like us can cause some upsets and have the chance to play bigger teams. If you have this attitude to playing higher league clubs now, do you think we're gonna lose every game in league 1 because they're bigger than us?
Get behind the team, if we win it's a good chance for some TV coverage and we can get a little more money. If we lose it doesn't matter! So everyone here would be upset if we drew United away or moan about the journey to Old Trafford? Stop this negative attitude and have a little faith, it's 11 V 11 at the end of the day and all the rankings and leagues mean nothing when the game starts at 0-0

Saints are far from s**te at the moment or incredibly inconsistent.
Since Nigel Adkins went there they have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their 8 games and are very much on an unward trend. They have won 3 and drawn 1 of their last 4 four games.
We've caught them at a very bad time.
Had Alan Pardew still been in charge we would have had a better chance. As it is we couldn't have drawn a much harder game from all those possible.

So what do folk reckon for our chances to be on the box? Can't really see anything leap out of the 1st round draw. Dale have a derby match against FC Manchester, will they appeal? Not so sure... May have a chance. Bound to be Saints and Wednesday they look to first to schedule? By the by, when were the last time we played Saints done there? If it were the League Cup match then we more than matched them and came away with a draw...so you never know...

Southport vs Sheffield Wed has to be in with a shout, Rochdale vs FC United(if they beat Barrow) and quite possibly the local derby between Hayes & Yeading vs Wycombe, we could well make the small screen based on Southampton being past FA cup winners.

Can we have some real Shrewsbury Town fans commenting on this thread please..... can't believe any real Shrews fan would be so negative! Historically we play better against teams who play football so I honestly feel we've got a chance. If you don't, don't bother coming, and keep your mouth shut. I personally will be there!
