I think Humphrey's decision making and 'football brain' were always his problem areas when he was here.
I agree he improved while he was here, but not in leaps and bounds.
Holt often seemed frustrated with him, although he missed at least three sitters put on a platter for him by Humphrey during his one season with us. That always seems to be glossed over.
Tend to agree, however, that Humphrey seemed to be an athlete we were trying to shape into a footballer, rather than vice versa.
Not seen him play since his time with Salop, though and wish him well.

Lets face it the lad didn't really improve that much in his time here and while we missed his pace last season when he was here the end product was very rare.Good luck to him if the fresh challenge in Scotland has improved him as a player and made him a more consistant player.
In a way he was similar to Sam Aiston, exciting because he had pace but all too often he was frustrating as there was hardly ever an end product despite all the good positions he got into.

Hibbert has improved since he left us? Where does that comment come from? By improve I meant went onto play for higher league teams. what I'd like to see is us picking up players in their early 20s and improve them over a couple of seasons so we reap the benefits. What seems to have happened in recent seasons is a large turn over in players with no great improvement in quality - I hope that in 18 months time we will look at players like Robinson, Leslie, bradshaw, and sherrif etc and comment on how they have improved.

Hmmmm. You're undoubtedly one of the most interesting and knowledgeable contributors to this board, mattmw, but by that criteria you could say that Steve Jagielka improved when he left us and joined Sheffield United. I think Northwestman's got a point on this one.

Robinson and SCS have already improved.
Bradshaw is on a learning curve.
I'll make no comment on Leslie.
