Was it Bevan who said he brought the BMA on side in forming the NHS by filling their mouths with gold? You're on £90,000 p.a. with an indexed pension. You do private work as well. So what do you need a bonus for?

I suppose tuition fees was one of the few areas where I agreed with The Lib Dems. Students developing skills and knowledge is the future of this country it is what will stop us becoming a third world nation and because of this the country should invest in the future.
It was ridiculous that students were leaving university will debts of over £20k and in future will have debts exceeding £30k. This situation in the long term will be detrimental to the whole economy.
Even during the Thatcher years I never feared for the future as much as I do today. I worry what kind of country my grandchildren will grow up in if this government is allowed to run its full term.

I know someone who has a media studies degree and is working in a media related job. It'd be interested to hear the views of any Town fans who have a media degree as it always seems to be singled out as a non-degree, much like diversity officer is always singled ou as a non-job, usually by people who have no idea what either entails but are parroting their stock Daily Mail opinions. Are all non-vocational qualifications worthless, how about English Literature, Ancient History, Classical Studies, Music etc? I mean, a media degree could lead to a job at somewhere like Carlton TV, and who knows where that might lead, eh? I guess it depends, but the company I work for (Deloitte) take on c. 1,200 graduates each year, largely in accountancy or tax positions. There's no requirement for a specific degree subject but applicants must have a 2:1 degree or higher, plus decent A-levels (used to be A/A/B from three A-levels but this may have changed now given the way UCAS points are calculated) along with a strong CV demonstrating various competencies such as team working, work experience and good communication and leadership skills etc. I think too much is made about the subject being studied. Specific technical vocations aside, if someone's a strong candidate they're a strong candidate, and will be able to demonstrate top skills regardless of what subject they studied in.
