Why can't the press just leave our players alone? Link------> Joe Hart I wonder if there would be the same response on here if he wasn't a 'local lad'. On one hand he's a young lad who is enjoying himself though these days, given the money they are paid, perhaps they should either be a bit more discrete or behave like athletes a few days before a game?

If this was a story about Bent or Walcott there would be outrage about footballers being overpaid and not caring, because it is Hart people are moaning.Take the rose tinted specs off lads.He has been an idiot and rightly exposed as one.Hopefully he learns from it unlike many of his teammates.

I trhink one of the comments sums it up perfectly when they said. "George Best had more fun at half time it didnt stop him playing a blinder" A typical overreaction by an ailing newspaper with nothing better to do. Just imagine if Rooney was there as well, joe wouldn't have even got a mention would he

36 hours before a game?! Surely the lad can go out and have a few ales!! ..... Whether it's Joe Hart, Aaron Lennon, Jack Wilshere or whoever I really don't see the problem with it at all ...... Those who moan must've led a VERY sheltered life when they were younger, classing someone as an IDIOT for having a night out ... Saddos.

In that particular 'lively' holiday resort yes it encouraged .... In the powerleague or Brooklands I'd say no. Come on you must have been to Ibiza, Magaluf etc .... 1 or 2 days before a game then I could see a problem but surely City and England have given him permission to go out? I'd he's awful against Montenegro I'll admit I'm completely wrong.

I'm tended to agree with Bordershrew - it's three days before a game.
He hasn't hurt anyone, cheated on anyone, broken any laws, and it seems like a complete non-story to me.

Be interesting to see what people's thoughts on this would be if it was someone like Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez or John Terry.

I think Rooney had a similar story written about him in August (late night, smoking etc) and I don't recall a massive backlash.

Young lad gets p**sed and puts his arm around some lass on a stag do weekend shocker!!! Its so funny. A vital game!!! A disgusted fan!!! How anyone buys that rag is beyond me, its a joke of a newspaper. They are again looking to put this against this booze the problem in football. The lads on a stag do, what do they expect him to be doing? ...joke of a newspaper...they should be ashamed of themselves. Surely folk now realise that you should stay well clear of this type of thing. I do wish people would stop buying this s**te...

No we would not. There would be no outrage at all. Its a lad on a stag do with his mates. Not sure how many stag do's you've attended but drinking, singing etc etc etc is kinda part and parcel as to what goes on... Idiot my arse. He's 23 and out with his mates on a stag do...

Inevitable build him up and then try and knock him down tactics from this parasitic Murdoch organ No doubt they and The Sun will still proclaim themselves as No 1 supporters of the England football team

So after all the bad press his teammates have had you think this was a sensible thing for him to do a few days before an England qualifier? If he makes a blooper wait for the press to crucify him.I hope he doesn't but if he does they will and this incident will be used against him.I am sure Mr Capello won't be too happy either but then again he doesn't matter as he is only the England manager.

He was up late drinking and having fun at a mate's stag do nearly a week before the game. So what? What's he going to do? Sit quietly drinking mineral water and then leave his mates and bugger off back to his room at 11 o'clock? Not like the keeper has to run around much anyway and at his age you have very little after-effects from a night on the pop. A total non-story as far as I'm concerned, just the usual poo-stiring from that crappy rag.

He, like alot of other dimwitted footballers must realise the press are desperate to get any little sort of story they can. Why take the risk? You accept all the plaudits and the millionaire lifestyle but so many are not prepared to make a few sacrifices in their lifestyle like not getting p**sed before games. It may be a desperate troublestirring rag of a newspaper but he's no-one to blame but himself.

Well you can't blame NOTW for running the story, it's just business at the end of the day and there is a market for stories about footballers getting t**tted and making arses of themselves. Maybe the tone is a bit judgemental though - but unfortunately this is the fault of other England players for behaving and playing so badly. Everyone knows that Joe likes a drink from time to time as any other bloke his age does. If he plays OK then it'll all be forgotten.

A story to be taken with a pinch of salt, much like Fraser Nelson's column in the same Murdoch rag.

Total over-reaction from the press, although I am sure the journalist has had a nice bonus!!

Actually, it was 36 hours before joining up for training, which I guess is 4-5 days before a game. If you read it it also says Gareth Barry was there too. So, a nothing story.

Haha what a non story! Firstly doesn't it say it was 3days before meeting up with the squad not the game so they've clearly waited till just before the game to make it seem that way and sell more copies so it must've been earlier in the week the week and it was a stag do so what's the problem with him and Barry doing that, are they not allowed? Heaven forbid anyone in any line of work has a few days off and go out and get drunk celebrating.
