Joe Hart is the only fit England goalkeeper at the moment.
Both Ben Foster and Scott Carson were unable to train today because of injuries.
It's looking REALLY good for that £500k to be in the post on Friday evening!

Ahh!! it's on a Friday, surely his contract says only Saturdays count with a 11:30 kick off whilst wearing a pink tutu.

Has 500k ever been confirmed as the amount?
Would be very useful if some of the funds were available in Jan if needed.
However as things are going at the moment best kept for a 'rainy day'!

If you google the whole saga an amount of 500 000 crops up quite often when the full competitive international cap clause is talked about. Not sure the club has ever published that amount officially but that's probably because of the initial misunderstanding and also not wanting to advertise to other clubs, our potential transfer kitty.

If it is true then the club will be quids in.
Interest for the money alone by january would be a nice bit of cash.

It will be interesting to see how the club will invest this money. Is there any money still left in the budget from this season? Will it be kept for future investment?

I really hope Joe plays, for himself and of course if there really is money on the table, however, it would not surprise me one bit if Carson plays ahead of him.

I suspect that if £500,000 I'd what we get we won't see lots of it spent. The existing squad won't have been the cheapest to put together and I'd imagine a fair bit will get invested in the youth and scouting set up. Possibily with a bit kept in reserve for post Xmas signings

It has to be in a month with a "J" in it, can only be against a european country that won a world cup in the 1960's and and the match must end 0-0. Apart from that it is cut and dry.

I would like to think that the club would make a firm statement after Joe has made a 'competative' start, just to stop all the speculation.

There has to be some truth in there, somewhere. Remember Bickerton making a tw*t of himself, by telling us that "the invoice is in the post", just after Joe played against Trinidad.

The potential 500k windfall was one of the scrolling headlines on Sky Sports this morning so I am glad that the transfer window is closed and we didnt end up paying inflated prices for players from clubs who thought we had a big transfer kitty. Hopefully by January it will be all forgotten, whether some of the money is made available to GT or not.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that he'd like to complete his career at Town. Never seems to have a bad word to say about the club, great that Town have a bit of exposure from his exploits, can only be good for the club...the lad can't do any wrong at the minute and long may it continue...

Wasn't he a Town fan as a lad? Still sponsoring the youth team keepers. He could sponsor the first team with the pay rise he's just had! England keepers are dropping like flies at the moment. If Joe gets injured in the warm up he has to be wheeled between the posts for the kick off. Then he can come off and we can post the invoice (again).

"It is huge money for a team like that and I am pleased for them although there is only one player left from my time there. Everyone else has gone."
Not exactly high praise for his home town club, is it?

Not exactly high praise for his home town club, is it? It's pretty fair comment though, it is a huge amount of money for Shrewsbury, and he is making reference to the fact (quite factually) that it is a completely different squad to when he left.

You forgot he's only allowed to save with headders and volleys, and only if he's had Brains Faggots as his pre-match meal...

Not exactly high praise for his home town club, is it? What was he supposed to say?!! The Shrewsbury connection is at best of passing interest to the nation, not something which is likely to be the focus of all interviews each time he speaks. Glad we got a mention but for the rest of the world we ain't that interesting...
