Leslie without doubt has potential, it will be interesting to see if Mr Turner can get some continuity out of him.
I think we are a little lightweight in the keeper department also.

Leslie played one of the balls of the day to wright and when on helped a poor midfield actually keep the ball. Give him a chance this year!

yea ONE of the balls,I'll go further THE ball of the day................however
problem is he still has the touch of an off day Dave Hibbert, cant go by a shadow and 99 times out of 100(with the remaining 1 being today) always picks the defensive backward pass instead of the forward attacking one.
I sometimes wonder if he actually knows which way we are playing.
Probably abit harsh I know, but never rated him, sadly doubt I ever will, just dont see what he brings to the party.......

Leslie was mainly brought on to stop them passing it about at will in the middle of the field, and in that respect he was successful
But, although I have been a supporter before, I think he will struggle to pass the ball well enough to fit into this team on a regular basis

His former PE teacher was on Radio Salop - she thought he had a great game taught him all he knows, she said

Leslie did play one very good ball through and probably has potential but he's lazy, his decision making is, for the most part, poor and why he believes he's a dead ball specialist is beyond me! If I was Ainsworth I would have told him to p**s off. Overrated and has exhausted his chances to impress.

Leslie is shocking! Really really annoys me. He cant beat his man, he cant shoot, he only ever goes backwards and could someone please explain to me why he that corner?? He cant take corners to save his life! I honestly dont think he would get in the telford team right now, i think more sunday leagues his standard!!

May sound harsh, but in my opinion Leslie is one of the worst players I have ever seen play for Salop. Can someone please tell me what on earth he offers? Just does nothing for me, he went over in the second half to take a corner off Ainsworth, who is one of the best set piece takers at the club, and put it out for a throw! Can't understand why Van Den Broek wasn't bought on at HT for Robbo, someone direct and strong is what was needed. Get rid now Turner!

I was massively surprised after his performance in the second half at Macclesfield that Van Den Broek was not brought on. Bit harsh on VDB.
I don't think leslie is a poor player. I think some of these comments are OTT. But I am not sure he is good enough for a first team place in a promotion team.

Criticism of Leslie very harsh IMO. he did the job asked of him which was to stop the Shots midfeild dominating, and he was successful had he not done so we'd have lost the game IMO.

I couldn't attend today but have seen him on numerous occasions and the word that springs to mind is "garbage".
Pleased he is out of contract at the end of the season.

Leslie for me is one of those players who blows extremely hot or extremely cold, with no in between.
If it came to offering him a contract or letting him go at this moment in time, I'd let him go, dont think he's ever fully fulfilled his potential, just not consistent enough.

Our corners were great and then along comes Leslie to remind us about last season Puts his corner out for a throw I was hoping for one our lads to make a move at the back stick after the 1st corner was overhit. Loads of space there, but Harrold and Wright were stood a yard apart making the same run. I liked some of the early creative corners - good stuff and nearly came off.

Whats with all the Leslie bashing ?
His role today was a totally different one to Jakey's .
He had to be part of the midfield today NOT a striker .
Yes our attacking was not what it was in the first half but then we had Aldershot pinned back in their half for most of the second half , thus nullifying most of Aldershots threat .
Aldershot had for most of the first half 5 and sometimes 6 when Ben Herd pushed up in midfield and yet we were more skillful to create more attempts and good opportunities . Another day and it could have been 4-1 if we had had been on target .
For those who thought Leslie had bad game then you are devoid of football intelligence . You have 90% to learn !!!!!!!!!!!

How old is he again? Did the defensive work for me today, yes he could have used the ball better, other than that glorious ball, but he was a vital ingredient in us getting a point today

I dont understand what all the fuss is about Leslie he was put on told what to do and did it?? we were very lucky if he had not come on we would have been well beat 5-1 to the opposition being my guess mabye more so leave the boy alone give him the benefit of the doubt for today .............................

Our corners were great and then along comes Leslie to remind us about last season Puts his corner out for a throw exactly what i thought. It felt like every time Leslie got the ball we had travelled back to last season when no one could pass or control the ball properly. though as a local lad i hope turner can transform him, i agree that at the moment he doesnt look like he fits into a team of passers. He has laso been here a long time now and perhaps it would be in his and our interests, to move on to fresh fields. a move to our competitors is almost guranteed to a) get him scoring 20 goals a season b) give him cult status here

My take on Steve Leslie for what it's worth: he falls into the category of scapegoat amongst many fans. Think Drummond, Hunt, Dunfield, L Neal and McIntyre. All midfielders and 'cos they're not Lionel Messi (or Ainsworth) they get grief a lot of the time. Steve did a good job yesterday in bolstering a midfield that was overrun in the first-half. Great spot by GT and a decent point. Steve blows hot and cold but I feel he can do a job as a very valuable squad player. If we can get consistency from the player he's a valuable asset. Cut him some slack.

A few comments on Leslie:
1) No one seems to know his best position. He has played all over the field and I still dont know where his best position is.
2) He is a confidence player and when things are going badly he goes into his shell
The above two things have meant that it has been very, very difficult for him to get a sustained run in the team
Some people claim he's being made the scapegoat, I think its the opposite, if he hadnt been a local lad then people would have been questioning why he continues to get contracts.
A very big season for the lad in my opinion, has to step up his game a hell of a lot.
(I wasnt at the game yesterday so comments purely based on previous seasons)

Chicken or the the egg Monkee?
Is he suffering from lack of confidence because he's not getting a run or is he not getting a run because he lacks confidence?
I do think the lad has talent and Ive seen glimpses of it. But in this league on a lot of occasions you will be in a battle and thats when he struggles in my opinion (just like someone like Lewis Neal). In home games when we are doing well then i think he excels. When things are going badly though he goes into his shell, and is ineffective in my opinion.
And its the problem of instant success in todays game. Its all well and good people saying he needs a sustained run to prove himself but if after 2 or 3 games he isnt performing people will get on his back and start asking questions as to why he is playing.

Leslie is certainly no scapegoat! I have watched the lad since his debut and not really seen a great deal of progress. If he bulked out and didn't avoid a tackle, I'd have no problem with him playing in the midfield, but for me he doesn't get stuck in enough.
