Talking of the Shropshire Senior Cup, it would be interesting to see who was involved in a company called Jigsaw, who sponsored them once, but the sponsorship was not renewed.... wonder why???

TNS are members of the Football Association of Wales and wouldnt be allowed into the SSC as it is a English FA affiliated competition, I'm guessing thats the rules but I may be wrong and there may be nothing to stop them entering.
Tomorrow in the Herefordshire equivalent, Ledbury Town take on Hereford in the final, the basis of that competition now is that the winners of the Herefordshire County Cup get to take on Hereford United at home the following pre-season.
I propose the SSC should be reverted back to four clubs, with ourselves, KFC, Drayton and the previous season's winners of the Shropshire County cup taking part, which for this season would have been Ellesmere Rangers.

I'd rather pay to see Market Drayton / Shawbury / Ludlow vs Shrewsbury or Telford
after seeing Shrews vs Telford for many years.. its boring and doesnt attract the staff

s**t competition, pretty much the only people who genuinely care about these yearly Shrewsbury-Telford games are the chavs and wannabee hooligans

Shifnal have just been relegated back to WMRL from the Midland Alliance and Bridgnorth are still in the Midland Alliance I think.........

SSC is a waste of time and effort. obviously the point of the competition is only known to the local fa. imo it would be a worthy competition if (and bare with me ) all the shropshire fa afiliated teams, be they pubs, clubs or womens institute, sunday or saturday league, should play in a similar set up to the fa cup, knock out, random draw ect, then at a certain stage like the fa cup, the "big" teams get involved in the draw. potentialy, this would give every team in shropshire the chance to play the likes of Shrewsbury or Telford and would im sure draw a lot of interest and potentialy revenue. or perhaps a shropshire "champions league" where the winner of every league goes into a pyramid type competition. either way, the present system is unfair, unsporting and of little interest to the public and should be thrown open to the people of shropshire, rather than just those with a vested interest in the status quo.

There have allegedly been some "suggestions" lodged with Neil (Sambrook) but everything points to him being too busy trying to keep the ball out of the net with his briefcase and mobile phone, to do anything about it.

It's never been Neil's decission on this competition. So lay off him please? As for the pecking order it's . . . Shrewsbury Town Afc Telford Market Drayton Bridgnorth Town Ellesmere Rangers Shifnal Town Shawbury United Wellington Amateurs Hanwood United Wem Town St Martins

I know for a fact clubs can be invited such as wolves, sheffield wednesday and nottingham forest have done in the past.

Nothing stopping TNS being invited, but they would need permission from the Welsh FA before they could accept

I'm old enough to remember a crowd of 9,000 for a game against Wellington Town in the 70's. Also my only trip to Edgar Street was also in mid-70's when we played Hereford in the Herefordshire Senior Cup - there was alot of trouble with the police at that game too - anyone else rememebr that game?

TNS are a cross breed club merged between 2 clubs that played in welsh league, but also one of those clubs played in an english league. Its all bizairre to me how they are allowed to play there home games in england. Berwick Rangers! Gretna F.C. a Scottish club, played in the FA cup. So I don't really see a problem with TNS.

Before my time but we also played (and won) that competition in c. 1997 under Jake King - I think Lee Steele scored the winner.

Wellington Town changed their name to Telford United in 1969, so would be the 60's I guess. i certainly can't remember anything like 9,000 in my time following football and that was from around 1969 also

I remember the 3-0 win at Hereford in their senior cup, but don't recall any trouble. I thought it ws very quiet, but I did sit in the stand To go to the toilet at half time we were directed out of the ground to public toilets on the other side of Edgar Street It recall it being a bit different in the late 70's one Easter Monday evening - they were flying and stuffed us. A big crowd and not nice around town (all right city), even though this was before all day opening
