Gigantic waste of the tax-payers money.
Cannot believe people continue to vote them in.

That is not art. It is a mess. as you are so obviously knowledgable about art, what would you have put there? how would you represent Darwin bearing in mind we have a statue of him already?

I wouldn't put anything there. Leave the area as it is. Just a gigantic waste of money. Darwin already has s**t to represent him.

Geoffrey, think independently. Don't just refer to Morrissey's nonsense. The guy's still a great chanteur but a real arse of a bloke.

"he feared for their safety adding it was only a matter of time before someone was seriously hurt by copying them."
After a period of arduous contemplation, Mr Thompson finally decided the best way to tackle the hitherto non-existent risk of copycat climbings, was excessive publicity.

I think it is good, and it is clearly carrying out part of it's function by stimulating debate.
Ask almost all those who are stamping their feet about it what it replaced and it will shut them up.
Previously that whole space was a litterstrewn, unkempt dingy little park, used in the main by the homeless and street drinkers and drug takers. Virtually no visitors, residents or town centre workers used it or knew it was there. Now it is a lovely open little space alongside this towns best asset and is widely used for the purpose for which it was intended.
More street art I say.

I remember when this area was a garage, well a series of scruffy sheds! These were knocked down in the late 50's early 60's and replaced with a small park which as jammo says has never been an asset to the town........... What we've got now is a great improvement, something quite unique which will as art should do cause debate and may even grow on town folk as an impressive sight as you cross the welsh bridge. I wouldn't give twopence for the Mona Lisa but don't deny it's a work of art that many revere so get real and well done to STFC or whoever for being brave with this project As for a danger to people climbing it so what this is true of any structure, climb it, fall off and you get hurt tough

You just beat me to the answer to Jamo's question, Gethins Garage was there.
Have a look at the size of the site and wonder how they fitted a garage in!
Anyone remember Woppy Phillips' scrapyard? Another riverside beauty spot to compliment the garage.

Another riverside beauty spot to compliment the garage. Smithfield Road was only narrow with traffic lights at the bottom of mardol which was two way....

a sequence of barely perceptible changes leading to the emergence of something radically different from its originator. bit like digesting a cheeseburger then? Except that cheeseburger digestion is probably a bit more perceptible and no-one wants to see anything emerge!
