Stuttie i think you are missing the point of all 92 league teams. When the seasons kicks off in august the first thing teams try to do it get enough points to avoid getting relegation.I think finishing in the botton 2 of league 2 is failiure Aim for the stars... ;D ;D Seriously for the club, the money spent, the faciltys and the players we have had a fialed play off sun and a mid table finish is frankely not acceptable...

So anything other than relegation is a success???
Anyway back to the original point Ed made, I agree with him, and I think pro simpson fans should too. From his statements in the star today and yesterday it seems he know's he's likely to be going - things like I haven't been able to sort out contracts yet etc. There's not been one article, press release or even a statement on our website yet to indicate any kind of support for the manager or even that he is still the manager, which is very telling considering all the rumours flying about and the fact that in less than 48 hours we'll have started our last hime game of the season.
It's a bit like the situation with man city are mark hughes earlier in the season, whereby everyone in the ground knew it was his last game.

Then you have nothing to worry about. Why are you even making comments on such threads? You’ve nothing to concern yourself about. Now let us with more realistic expectations get on with bemoaning the fact that we have a manager still in place who has been incapable of delivering us a play-off spot let alone an automatic promotion place…

Wonder if the new manger will be in the crowd on Saturday like Manchine was at man City... that would be intresting...
Key and eye on the posh seats this saturday... no doubt there will be a few scouts in there and we will proclaime them the new manager Saturday night!

Indeed. I doubt whether the board would deem anything above the relegation zone as acceptable considering the investment that has been made...I doubt that at all...

The point is the investment hasn't been made this season, well at least compared to last season.......
Perhaps RW thought he'd save the cash and see how we get on with a small inadequate squad saving funds for a big push next season so can we expect to spend big in the summer?

I would actually think think its more a case that the internal review, and changes to the directors at the club uncovered the fact that the money is not there for another gamble like two seasons ago, unless the off feild matters are improved... Thats conjecture putting 2 and 2 together

Going back to the original post
Ed does make a valid point, at the moment most fans consider Simpson as on his way out and the board havent done anything to suggest otherwise. If the board still back him then why cant they come out and say "Whilst its been a disapointing end to the season Paul Simpson has the full support of the board and will be in charge next season". We wouldnt be the first club to do that
Saturday will be very surreal and sadly I fear it will be 90 minutes of abuse aimed at Simpson. The fact the opposition are in contention of the play-offs with a number of ex players will make it much, much worse
