What is for sure is that we are going to finish in the bottom half of the table if we do not make any new signings before the start of the season. For sure?

I find it quite comical that some people are screaming out for a season ticket refund! As others have stated your season ticket is to watch Shrewsbury Town as a team, because it's your club, not one player!
It will be disappointing if Holt goes, but no matter what you think we will still have to sell players, we are not this 'massive' club some think we are! If the figures are true, it is a very good profit on a player we have had for only 1 season.
Shrewed - Davies and Humphrey left the club through their own decisions, get over it!
I am sure there will be a replacement lined up and others aswell.

4 Teams will get promoted from this division.. None of them will have Grant Holt in there team. Now.. we will have more transfer money than most, as of now and that IMO means that we shouldnt be saying were going to have a bad season just because we dont have Grant Holt, 23 teams in League Two coped without Grant Holt last season and 8 of them managed more points than us.

I'm pleased you think it's comical that some people are calling for a season ticket refund if Holt leaves the club - you must have more money than sense. Most of us bought our season tickets under the misconception that the board were at last showing some ambition - Holt is the top scorer in league 2, if he is sold then the club have a moral and ethical duty to offer season ticket refunds to those who want them.

I'd stick myt mortgage* on it. *I actually haven't got a mortgage so it's not that bad a bet. If we struggled to finish 7th with teams with points deductions what will happen with our top striker, top midfielder, best goalkeeper and two significant other players leaving the club, half of the team has gone and not been replaced with the same quality - as of writting.

No! I just have sense! When I renewed my season ticket no promises were made about who would be playing this season. The club have no moral or ethical duty to refund season tickets and why should they?! Let's see what happens. This money could be spent very well on a good 20 goal striker and strengthening the other weak areas of the squad.

Its B&A at its best this…superb!! Why are we having these discussions, he’s not even gone yet has he? Can’t we wait till its confirmed before having a moan? Anyhows, maybe Norwich will do you a deal on a season ticket if he ends up there, part exchange for yer Town one…
Only joking, I can understand why some folk are upset and disappointed. However, one thing, let’s not level any criticism at the club for having no ambition or desire to get us promoted until we’ve looked to reinvest any money we receive.
We had Holt last season and were the 9th best side in the division, there were better sides above us who didn’t spend that amount on a single player…so I can’t understand why anyone would think the success of our season rests on whether Holt plays for us or not. It clearly doesn’t looking at his one season with the club (thus far)...

2 weeks ago they were saying that the clubs finances were in such a healthy state that we don't have to sell our players - Grant Holt's not for sale was the message to the fans.......

Holt is a great striker but he is no John McGinley, come on lads get real. Absolutely spot on. McGinley was the best striker I've seen for us in my 22 years of watching. I'd probably have Carl Griffiths and Wayne Clarke over Holt too. Not saying Holt's a bad player, but compared to players who've gone in the past I'm not sure it's going to be so much of a problem. If he goes for £450 - 500k, that's got to be one of the largest fee's we've received in our history, and it's for a 28 year old - not a promising youngster like Joe Hart who is going to be around for 15 years or more. I can only think that Hart and Walton have gone for more. Think Carl Griffiths and David Hughes went for about £450,000

Fact is we were 9th best even with Holt in the team, imagine were we would have been without him last season!

with one Holt is leaving for the best part of half a mill by all accounts.
So God bless the contracts

On tonight's evidence the team will struggle to match Holt's 20 goals from last season between them. The club must offer a refund to those who purchased in good faith........ I imagine we would still score a fair few of his 10 penalties.
