At this moment we own the top scorer in league 2 - that type of commodity cannot be replaced - IF it is true, then selling him shows a total lack of ambition......... if Holty goes the club MUST, as a matter of principle, offer a refund to those who have purchased season tickets for the coming season. Well I guess there'll be a new top scorer in League 2, just like in most seasons. Why does it show a total lack of ambition? You don't know how the money will be used. If any season ticket holder would take a refund (which of course the club should not and will not offer) then they shouldn't have bought one in the first place. Are you saying that you, "as a matter of principle", will now stop supporting the club?

I hear what you are saying Penza but peoples fear revolves around how money has been used in the past and concern about its use in the future and our so called backbone to the side of Coughlan/Jackson(both injured) Davies sold and potentially Holt sold with 17 days until the start of the season leaves people pretty shell shocked...yes we are lucky compared to Wrexham and Chester but the enthusiasm and optomism at the beginning of last season has all but evaporated.........but ever hopeful maybe Simpson and the chairman and board can find a silver lining but many I talk too are very very concerned! I can understand that people are dissapointed that he has gone, but we will have a lot of money to spend, he is replaceable like any other player at this level, lets just hope Simmo does a good job at doing so, because Holt is out best player. With say 500k we could by 3 or 4 top class player for this level.. Thats why im not worried yet. If come 8th August the situation has not been resolved, then i will be very worried indeed!

I reckon Simpson won't even see half of the transfer fee.
Roland seems to be back to his old ways of penny pinching!
Good times are back!

IF Simpson gets the money then fair enough, however I doubt the board (inc Bickerton) will allow that.

People bought their season tickets believing that as he is on a 3 year contract Grant Holt would be at the club, thus giving us a realistic chance of promotion. If you paid for a Rolls Royce and were delivered a Ford Escort you would quite rightly expect a refund. We have paid for a commodity that has now diminished in quality and we should be offered our money back.

Like he replaced Ben Davies with Lewis Neal? Who's he going to get in to replace Holt then, Marc Richards?[/quote]
I don't remember Ben Davies being a left winger.Surely Craig Disley is Ben Davies replacement?

We have paid for a commodity that has now diminished in quality and we should be offered our money back. First, you bought a Shrewsbury Town season ticket, not a ticket for a one man show. Second, you don't yet know whether the quality of the "commodity" has diminished, because the season hasn't started. Third, does any club offer a guarantee of quality anyway? Are Man Utd fans getting refunds now Ronaldo and Tevez have gone, or Arsenal without Adebayor, or Villa without Barry?

On tonight's evidence the team will struggle to match Holt's 20 goals from last season between them. The club must offer a refund to those who purchased in good faith........

When we lose to Burton on the opening day I plan to dramatically rush to the front of the stand and throw my season ticket at Simpson and the board claiming I'll never return.....
I'll then sheepishly go round to the club on the monday and ask for my ticket back....
and great Simpson and the board as heros in May for helping us secure promotion...
My season ticket purchase buys me the right to moan, slag off the team, fly into panic at every down turn and act in a totally hypocritical manner for the course of the season. Let people moan if they want to folks - optimisim is the curse of the lower leagues! If I wanted to enjoy supporting a football club I wouldn't be supporting town.
