He is just a bit brighter than most who choose to post as a guest, as he is aware of how we construct our sentences. u sure? he could tell azlan was jamo and liberal left was matron.

i delected the thread so will take any grief for doing so. like i have said i have no issue with people expressing their opinion but this thread i my opinion went to far. as a mod i dont think i must show my power by deleting things but have no problem in doing so if asked. the only people that seem to have an issue with me deleting the thread are guests. if other registered users think it should go back up then so be it. I have a problem Mike. It's not about your personal opinion, it's about the board rules. A player has been singled again by a wind up merchant, so we just ignore the post, easy. If people wish to reply to it then that's their choice. Is there really any difference in saying player X is not good enough to be part of a squad that is aiming for promotion because his distribution, decision making and composure on the ball is not up to the standard, or by saying player X is ? I don't think so, the sentiment is the same. These types of conversations go on all the time in the pubs, workplace and in the home. Next time a player gets a slagging in the pub and people over hear it I suggest they request that they shut up because they are offended by it.

respect your opinion nick but im not sure how people on here want mods to work. i was asked by a number of posters to take the thead down...... if i hadnt and it had turned nasty which it looked like it would id have been slated, so ive taken it down and i get slated anyway.
i became a moderator because i spend a large part of my time on the net at work i didnt do it because it would mean i had some extreme power, in fact im really not that bothered if im a mod or not.
a moderators job should be to keep the board free from racism/violence/porn etc but surely it should also be to make sure that their arnt hundreds and hundreds of threads written by guests about s**t.
i admit i may have been wrong taking the thread down but in between being asked by posters to remove it and running a business i made the call.......

The system is pretty daft. Unless what's being posted is illegal or malicious then what's the problem? You get idiots in all walks of life - the secret is ignoring them. I can understand wanting to delete threads of the "a steward's just told me we've signed Kaka" variety but you're also potentially ruling out some good rumours as well. So what if somebody says this player or that manager is crap - big deal, you can hear it in any pub on any night. I always post as a guest because frankly I can't be bothered to register and therefore I nominate myself as the worst fan in the history of STFC.

Why have we ended up in a situation where by the clubs Media Manager gets rumbled from B+A posters by writing a sarcastic no to a lazy person who can not be bothered to do some basic internet research? Still posting as a guest, Mattsnapper? no or do I mean yes, as if I write no Ill get into trouble ;D

A pointless thread really.
It has no real relevance to the forum, so why keep it?
As lexo said, it could quite easily cause trouble and bad feeling.
It's not a constructive comment or statement, so delete it.
Slagging someone off because of what opinions they have, especially on an online forum is daft and spineless in my opinion.
I have read many things which I don't agree with in the slightest, but I wouldn't go as far as starting a thread in order to slag that person off for it.

The other thing that annoys me is if you post a rumour on here some pompous eejit will always post a replay saying "source" like they are the editor of The Times. FFS if you couldn't post rumours and opinion on a football website there's not much point in it being there. Rant over.

I'm with those who wanted the thread removed, which were the majority BTW, I 'support' the players and will continue to do so for the remainder of the season, I'd rather, to coin a phrase 'big someone up' if it means they will produce that bit extra, rather than tell them how useless they are, how that achieves anything I just don't know.

Unless you were around earlier today you probably aren't aware of the earlier poll started by Salop 2009 and the point I was making.

If it didn't break any rules then it should have been left alone. If people didn't like the thread title then they should not read it. This has happened twice now, this and once when a title was changed. This is an unofficial independent message board where people, within the rules, can spout mostly b0ll0x. As for the majority, like the guest said the majority have ignored it. One of the biggest accusations against this board was one of being a clique. We don't want a clique of people getting upset when a player gets slagged off and demanding changes or deletions.

In the last 3-4 years I have been a strong proponent of allowing guest posting on this forum.
However, I am beginning to change my mind.
Over the last month such a high percentage of the crap spouted on here has been from guests, I wonder if it is worth the hassle.
I don't think I buy the "proboards rules are the only rules" line. Maybe we just need an "off topic" board like so many have resorted to?

FFS
I've read some drivel on this board in recent times but this thread takes the biscuit. I just had to read through all of it to take in the high volume of crap.
I'm not saying it's crap from everyone who has posted on it, but a good many.
It's like a bunch of infants in the school playing ground. Judging by some of the spelling, perhaps it is. I'd expect and get better from my 7 and 5 year olds.
Dave is right, a good portion of crap is from the guests, but not all of it. There are certain members who can take the credits too.
