Hi
As you probably know, I decided at the start of the season that BBC Radio Shropshire would invest in providing kick-by-kick commentary on every single Shrewsbury Town game.
We're now three months into the season and I wanted to seek some feedback on the service we're providing.
Is the commentary meeting a need for fans? Would it be missed? Are there other things you'd like us to do in covering the club?
As you can imagine, it is a significant commitment for us to provide this kind of service and additional feedback from fans would be welcome.
You can contact me by emailing tim.beech@bbc.co.uk or our sports editor James Bond at james.bond@bbc.co.uk.
We'll be very interested to hear your views on the service.
Cheers,
Tim Beech Managing Editor BBC Radio Shropshire

How much does a local radio station have to pay the FL to get the rights to broadcast live..?? Can Severn out bid the BBC like Talk Sport have got the rights off 5Live for next season's premiership or is it a closed shop in the lower leagues ? PS ...boost the FM transmitters - radio stoke and radio WM keep interrupting reception in Liverpool and Villa Park - flooring it from the meadow after 25 mins to get to villa v fulham, it was good coverage, however, latter stages of the journey reception went

Don't have a chance to send an email right this moment, but wanted to say that I think Radio Shropshire have done a great job this season. Stuart Dunn is very capable and there have been some good co-commentators (several of the Town players even). Would definitely be missed - coverage of away games in particular.

I go to most away games, but when I haven't I have listened to the Radio Shropshire commentary. Excellent service this season, compared to having to listen those (usually terrible) records they used to play, when we just wanted football reports I like Stuart Dunn's commentary, and as stated above the guests have been good (I heard Andy Cooke + someone at Hartlepool )

I have heard one or two away ones and very good they are too. Did not enjoy Saturdays too much as the 'expert summeriser' was a Scouse expert on Torquay Its Radio Shropshire, I want to know about Shrewsbury Town not about some journeyman pro playing left midfield for the Gulls. Otherwise keep up the good work

I think it is excellent. I can't say I get to hear every broadcast. I get a little irritated by the summariser who always ends what he says by saying "isn't it?" etc. Radio Shropshire are lucky to have Stuart Dunne.

This is exactly the kind of thing a local radio station should do and Radio Shropshire does it very well indeed Good commentators including guests really excellent service Thank you!

Like Matt said, boost the signal! Or make it available on Sky... Then I wouldn't have to listen to the muppets on Radio Derby for my football fix

The BBC match commentary is not broadcast over the web outside of the UK. Some commercial radio stations let you have access if you enter a UK post code.
There are a few Shrews fans abroad so we would welcome some solution to this.

Post match i prefere to listen to the texts, rather than a fan phone conversation. Fan of the day however is a good idea and works well as its relatively short and sweet. With the text service alot more supporters can get involved, and feel part of the show.

I think its great service this season and am sure that it will continue to be as long as keep that Dullman away from the mike.
When James Bond has been away, Stu Dunn has Dunn a great job on his own.
Have to agree with one of the other points made about summarisers in that they should be people associated with the Town not the opposition.

Quality - when Town are away always listen - otherwise never listen to radio Shropshire.
Great improvement from the days when we had snippets from the game between ancient music - and no football information hardly at the most important time between 4.30 and 4.50. Could never get my head around why that was.

Whenever I miss a game I will do my utmost to make sure I listen to it on Radio SHropshire as long as there is full commentary, whether that be at work, home or sometimes at my girlfriends in Hereford (albeit reception is not good as its a good 20 miles from the Shropshire border obviously!)
James Bond is a excellent presenter, the texts are fun to listen to, especially when the banter flies around between fans of opposing sides, Stuart Dunn is also top notch and overall I feel STFC are very lucky to have such quality air time dedicated to them on BBC local radio, in comparison Macclesfield Town on Radio Manchester get nothing which is perhaps understandable, also I feel AFC Telford get fantastic coverage in comparison to other Unibond clubs.
I for one, would be extremely dissapointed if Radio Shropshire ditched the live commentaries and feel it would be a big backward step.

More texts to be read out after the match instead of callers with back ground noises going on etc - What's the point of people paying for or using a text allowance when they're not being read out?

I sent a text after the Wycombe match and got a call five minutes later from someone at Radio Shropshire asking me if I wanted to talk about the game on air to James Bond as soon as he was ready, I would have took up the offer but unfortunately I was driving, so it seems they are looking at bringing more calls in instead of texts to the post match reaction bit, whether this will be a good thing or not time will tell! And my text didnt get read out either and I sent it at 5:05.

Would Radio Shrop consider have "fan" co-commentators like Andy, Gerry,.....*cough* me Andy & Gerry are very good on Shrewsweb, may have to calm the banter down a little ;D but would do a damn better job than some nobody scouser who supports Torquay Would be like giving something back to the fans and kind of like a bit of extra experience for the regular commentators

Commentaries are good,& would be a massive backward step if they were stopped. Very disappointed with the sports news given 6.30am & 7.30am daily, rarely is there any actual news on the town. Take last Tuesday, news broke late Monday about Leo Fortune West signing there was no mention of it on Tuesday News sport slot.

Very very poor coverage post match today - from 2pm onwards the programme was almost wholly dedicated to prematch interviews and previews of AFC Telford mixed in with an interview with some old fella who's written a book on Sir Alex Ferguson.
For both home supporters and those making their way back down the A49 the comments and coverage post match were awful. Please sort it out Auntie - the match coverage is excellent, it's just afterwards that you need to get the house in order.

Agree with you Hoover, particulary with aftermatch why are Radio Shropshire changing a popular format ? If it aint broke why fix it. Last season for STFC and afc telford post match was very enjoyable to listen to, and to contribute to this season its dire......

I was quite dissapointed as well, albeit I reconise that James Bond was making his way back from the Meadow to the Radio Shropshire studio as the interview about Alex Ferguson's book was on air, but is there any need for him to be at the Meadow?

Re: Opinions On Radio Shropshire Commentaries
Hiya I saw on the blue and amber site that you wanted opinion on the games, So here are mine,
Firstly I dont live in shrews because i go to university and would like to listen to the games online but when i try to the messgae always comes up saying that contractual obligations mean we cannot broadcast this programme, i find that really annoying although i understand that there is probably not much you can do about that,
Secondly and quite trivial i know but the womans voice that announces that " due to contractual obligations this cant be broadcast etc" is possibly one of the most annoying voices i have ever heard,
Thirdly i dont like it when the messgae cuts in about 5 seconds from kick off, this is veryannoying and leads me to the impression that i am going to be able to listen to the game and then all of a sudden the message comes on, i would rather this was not the case,
Fourthly i ended up listening to afc telford one day but this didnt relally interest me much, also there was not enough regular updates about the town score going on, in face i don think i heard one
However with reagrd to the commentary itself its very good and stuart is good also, i like the fact that i could listen to the FA cup game the other day,

It maybe worth advertising the fact that even though you can not get the commentary online you can get the prematch / postmatch response on line - i only came across this by accident. - I am also an exile but at least it means that i can catch GP's, fans & players postmatch views after listening to Shrewsworld

Same here :-) Mention to for Col Bloomfield who did the summarisers' job very well.
