I think that some people are jumping the gun here by slagging him off.Lets give him time first and assess the situation at a later date.

Obviously 1 or 2 are not happy about this appointment, Petetheloon for personal reasons and some just suspicious because of the Claims Direct history.
Is it a case that some are wary of any individual who could pump millions into our club incase he walks away (which could happen at Telford) rather than be run by a Town Board with minimal personal fortune and the club surviving hand to mouth for the future. Lets be realistic here because the financial security in the club at the moment still depends on delivering the New Meadow.

come on people! If you take the personal out of it, then what is the problem? I am sure Roman Abramovich, Al Fayed and all the other rich chairmen have stamped on a few heads in their times. If he was the new chairman I would be worried but he is not. Lets judge him by the work he does for the football club not his past.

I can understand why some are sceptical.
Just remember that messers Knighton and Reynolds were applauded when they started out at Carlisle and Darlington respectively.
I hope CP is the best thing that's ever happened for STFC but I can certainly appreciate the cautious approach taken by some.

You know when Gordon Taylor was saying yesterday on Grandstand that the FA needs to take a stronger role and vet people gettimng involved in football clubs?

I think what is interesting is that people for ages have been saying about our current directors not having a load of money etc. Well this is what you get when you have a multi millionaire coming in.
I hope that the fans groups can establish at good report with him. I think it is a good move, we need a CEO, someone to manage the place 7 days a week. Thing is how is his time going to be managed between his business and STFC. That is the question I would be asking?

Then there was Craig at York, surely the worst case of them all.
As for Al Fayed, its common knowledge that he'd all but solf Craven Cottage, despite not having a new ground for the club.

I don't think anybody has a personal vendetta against him but his way of business WAS not ethical and he's p**sed off an awful lot of peope in the process of making his millions.
Why can't some of us being dubious of someone who has a proven bad history? Just because he's joined STFC does not magically make someone a good person, they used to use the word scoundral for his types but I suppose I'm not allowed to say that now because he's on the STFC board and all will be great.
I believe in business being ethical and I fear that there is far more to this STFC story than meets the eye. However, for the time being, I'm happy to give him benefit of the doubt and I hope to God that this is in the best interests of STFC.

If you think about it its typical STFC. Only we could get a millionaire benefactor thats previously appeared in the dock on watchdog I love this club don't you!

Just been chatting with my boss. CP was a customer of ours, and from what I just heard he hasn't cleaned his act up at all.
Boss described him as a nasty peice of work

Here here Ade.
Whilst understanding concerns I do think we should credit the Directors with some intelligence as I am sure they have not made this appointment unaware of CP background.

As long as he is our "nasty piece of work" it doesnt matter
strong & independent supporters organisations should be able to comment independently should developments go the wrong way

If he's anything to do with Claims Direct on "Central Park" in Telford i have an outstanding invoice that is still unpaid, might be making a special effort to shake his hand while popping into the STFC offices next home game

I'm a bit more openminded. I'm only worried about the impact this might have on STFC. That said, I really don't know what his proposed role will be if it doesn't involve investing any money (does it involve investing money?!!)
There's obviously more questions than answers right now - does anyone fancy collating al the queries lodged on here and forwarding them to the club so see if we get a response?

Take a look on the Shropshire Star, they say his role is to increase the non-matchday revenue the club brings in.
He's not being paid to do the role.

That's right Ant, neither is he on the board Regarding being an unscrupulous character, which he isn't in my opinion, hasn't a certain member of the current Town board got a slightly dodgy pedigree?

Poole claims that the Town board have invested heavily in players. Well Jemmo comes to mind as the heaviest

If the guy can play ANY part in turning New Meadow into reality, and, in the process, finally nail down the coffin lid, on those pillocks, Mennell, Page,Watson etc., then he'll do for me. Good luck Colin, and may we ALL move forward together.

Sounds like this guy could help us kick some ass as far as getting the new meadow going forward even it is not his actual job. But as for increasing non matchday revenue this must be a really hard job - what can he possibley do!!! i await to be amazed

Sadly, you don't make millions in business by being a nice guy all the time. Interesting appointment; an unpaid chief executive charged with bringing investment into the club. Full steam ahead for Rowley Park, I think...
