Why doesn't B&A adopt a European club to support? That could be good fun![/quote]
What a fantastic idea Welshshrew, this should be a thread of it's own. Can i propose St Pauli in Germany, similar sized club to the town but the fans have a reputation for being very hands on and pro active. They're a pretty hard core bunch.

1) Town 2) Everton (Yes, that made last year a bit awkward!)

Dont get this 2nd club thing either- I could only ever support one and I have not seen much footy which didnt involve the town. I sometimes look out for clubs who have bought Shrews players.

But I've always fancied the idea of us picking a club of a similar level that we could go and visit, and keep up-to-date on their results. I'll ask for suggestions.

spot on Gareth, i trust anyone who suggests Real Madrid or Juventus will be automatically taken outside and shot. It needs to be a team that the Town can relate to

Great Idea
We could even organise B&A weekend jaunts to see the team!!
Would be good if it was a small team so it would be of benefit to them.
Could sort something similar out with them.
How about a small dutch team? they speak good english and holland is always a great place to go. also Calais are in the French non league if i'm not mistaken

Small dutch team? It has to be none other than VV Seolto then, of the Dutch fifth division who played the away supporters a few years back and then all stood on the Riverside for a vital relegation crunch against Southend fully decked in orange caps! All went absolutely berserk when Steele converted those two pens as well, top lads they were.....

I thought St.Pauli were in the german first division lying 4/5 behind the likes of Munich. Dont they also get about 15/20,000 when they are playing at home, whilst having a gat chairman (openly gay, who used to be part of the rocky horror type show or something) as well as having supporters who are known as the motley crew because of the diverse nature of them. Hardley compares to antiquated concervative shrewsbury

Yes and no Skip...they're in big trouble at the moment and are now playing in the Regionalliga Nord...if you don't have your finances in place here in Germany then there's no messing about. They were in the top league last season I think...now playing at the third level and at the minute only mid-table.
Everything else you say is spot on our kid...

Very strong links with Celtic and a number of international fans.
Sound interesting......

Cheers stutty, I hadnt realised they'd been relegated. Another thing that sperates the two clubs is that i read somewhere that they try and reach out to the students and other such peoiple and try and get them involved with the club etc. Not always the case at STFC, altho the leigh rmi idea was a step in the right directiion

1. Telford
2. Sheff Utd (it was always good for goading Wolves fans with in the late 80's when they always did better than them) I occasionaly watch them if Telford aren't playing.
3. VFB Leipzig. We all adopted an eastern European team when I was at school. I went for Lokomotiv Leipzig, who later became VFB. I have a home shirt of theirs too!

Numero uno Shrewsbury Town Numero dos Real Mallorca Numero tres Pollensa town i have always gone on the premise that there is only one way to decide which club to support, as soon as you are old enough get out a map identify where you live and pick the nearest team, easy. after 40 (odd) years in shrewsbury i have applied the same theory here, come on fellow blues adopt the mighty Mallorca the "real" real!! Also following Pollensa is excellent they play on sand and remind me so much of watching the Town!! Do you live in Pollensa then? I used to live outside Magaluf, but had friends in Pollensa.
