The team were doing as most teams do, picking up players on route, they left the GM at 10:30 on the coach, Accident happened at 10:30, it take about 30 mins for these things to show up on radio stations and rac travel centre etc etc, Now what are the team members on the coach doing?? all tuned into different radio stns on there personnell hifi's etc etc, just in case there is a bad accident on a road they are using?? or could they all be having a doss?? or watching a video, playing cards?? what do you do on a coach with workmates?? i know what i do, it called relaxing, that is what everyone should do, sh!t HAPPENS one of those things, get over it, Bury wil not get three points, I doubt we will even get a fine (maybe a little COMPO). From a team perspective, at least we should have 2 players fit for Tue, Now stop getting conspirecy theories over every incident, and looking for negatives at every juncture, and get behind the f**king team and support em........ Rant over

I doubt anybody is expecting the players to be listening to travel reports but a coach driver? Too bloody right they should.

how can it be a THICK DRIVER when the team had passed JC 15 - FACT the M6 route was infact the quickest there were NO radio reports and the bus was minutes away from the crash - 5 minutes previous and the town bus could have been the topic of headline news with dead players they had started out far too early anyway - so dont slag the club off on professionalism they were 1 jt away from picking up street and walton and then tinno please explain why the driver is a thikko

Too bloody right they should. were you on the bus..? have you spoken to any one who was on it..?? the crash was not reported until 30+mins after it happened they had the news on and initially there was only hold ups on the other side of the carriageway chill dude - if the bus had progessed and was 5 mins ahead of schedule we could have had a major tragedy on our hands - but then I still assume you would have blamed the driver of the bus

I think alot of Town fans are disgruntled Paul for having to make the nightmare journey and getting there despite our current form trying to work with GP and doing our part as fans, i'm sure you have read the other threads there must have been over 300/400 Town fans there today who are bumused as to why the team coach was miles away after everyone else busted a gut to get there including myself after leaving in plenty of time and arriving late?

I get your point Matt but as many other fans made it there then I am confused as to why the team coach failed to make it. Especially as they left 4 and a half hours before kick off. Perhaps it is or isn't the bus drivers fault but I don't give a toss, I have some booze which needs drinking

I can also never remember a time where this has ever happened before to a traveling STFC side.

Yep, agree Dunc, it is frustrating mate, i was p**sed for all who travelled when i heard about it, but when you look at timings I believe STFC have done very little wrong, have read other threads and think Pete has excelled at talking crap, BTW when southampton play in London the team bus goes VIA Newbury to pick up players rather than make the players come to Southampton, so route is m3, a34,m4 rather than straight up m3, it happens in the premiership aswell.....

I well remember going to Carlisle, about 3 or 4 years ago. A tanker had turned over, spilling a highly flammable load across the M6, in the vicinity of Preston. All 6 lanes of the motorway were closed to allow clean-up operations and safety procedures to take place. We must have been only minutes behind the tanker, so had missed the last exit before the accident. Hence, we sat in pretty much the same spot for 3 hours. We eventually were allowed through, and covered the last 92 miles in something like 70 minutes, arriving at the ground at 1 minute after kick-off. Whilst travelling at 90mph north of Lancaster, we were overtaken by ........the team coach.

you can exit the motorway at Keele services and continue your journey on another route .no problem. one of the only services where you can do that

The majority of posts are questioning why we the M6 on Boxing Day in treacherous road conditions and left so late. Perfectly fair in my opinion. It was a s**t decision and it'll cost this football club dear.
As for trying to compare it to road crashes, Sri Lanka etc - get real. We could do that every day and nobody would ever be able to question anything. Surprised that Gary P brought that in.
Also, as for saying get behing the team Paul, the people who are moaning are those who were prepared to travel hundreds of miles today to do that very thing.
It's the tip of the iceberg on what has been an absolutely dire season. Another one.

Have they not blocked the back road out of Keele services???
Craig stop whining, all you ever do is whine from the comfort of your own computer be it about comments made in the press by management, games you havent attended or incidents you haven't witnesed or experienced.
Always the first on the messageboard to start slating as soon as we concede a goal.....
Give it a break, chill FFS at this rate you'll have a heart attack!!!!

Town fans there today who are bumused as to why the team coach was miles away they may be bumused but a lot don't want to listen when people try and explain the facts... a lot of unnecessary anger and acqusations flying around on here today.

And also some good questions about the way we travel to away games. which is no different than the majority of other football clubs? m54/m6 - pick ups - manchester - bury, why is that the wrong route? ok you are in charge of planning the trip to bury, you are schduled to leave gm at 10:30am for estimated arival of 1ish, what do you do?

I would have players at the Gay Meadow for 10.30am, then I would travel on the A5, A483, A55, M53, M56, M6, M62, M60, and get to Bury at 12pm.

...and what if a 16 car pile up had of happened on the A458 just after the A5 and there was no route to escape off and because of the Air Ambulances, Police etc the coach was stuck for 4.5 hours..?? its all what if, but this was a WHAT IF by the way getting the players to Bury for 12pm is no way to prepare for a game. The ideal time is 1300 - 1315

Comments made by management in the press? I don't read anything but this MB and the offical web site mate. I am first on here when we have conceeded, true. But i'm not specifically having a go - it's only because I like to keep people up to date with what's going on. I try to stick to facts and if I say bollox when we go behind I don't mean we are bollox, I mean the fact that we have conceeded is bollox. Get my drift? I may be headed for a heart attack, but I have plenty of whining to do before that happens Incidently, this is the first time in 15 years that I have had to foresake watching the Town for other things. Suffice to say pretty much everything on the money side of things has gone tits up and I have a massive wedding bill / student loan to pay back. Perhaps that's why i'm so bitter. I'd love to still be able to travel all over the country but at the moment I can't afford the bus trip into town.

Bloody league two tin pot pub league almost as bad as Telford team

To put it mildy it was embarresing, some Bury gezzer was whinging about STFC and although i wanted to sick up for us i couldnt help but agree with him. They have lost out finanacially and i feel for the fans who got up early and made the effort to get the game on.
