Whilst I fully sympathise with Rect...sorry Wrexhams problems. I still get flashbacks to Gary Bennett scoring against us at home in 1997 in the dying minutes and to them beating u slate on again in 2003. The memory of Bennetts smug rat-like face & jubilant wrexham fans leaping around the Station End quickly kills off any urges I may have to attend any 'fans-united' style days/events, plus I would love to play them against next season given that Chester/Kiddie are current local rivals at the moment.
My hats most definately off to Denis Smith tho. He's doing a remarkable job in very difficult circumstances-just think he could have taken over here after King was sacked, wonder what would have happened in the long run if we had chosen him instead of Ratcliffe?

Gary Bennett what a bugger against us he was! Still will never forget him scoring his second goal against us 94-95 in a 2-2 draw at GM and Bennett stood over by the Wakeman stand to acknowledge some jeers and I shouted "Bennett" to which he came over towards me , I then said "You make have scored 2 goals, but you are still a fliping wayanchor" to which he grinned and knodded! Brilliant

Sad news for Wrexham.
Still I'm not gonna start crying about it.
IF the same happened to us we'd all be distraught but I wouldn't hold anything against our rivals having a laugh at us.

Think people like Gary Bennett are fantastic, and the more of them the better to be honest.

Can anyone give me a potted history of what happened with the chairman, why are they in this position?

Pryce Griffiths sold club to Gutterman
Several players on silly wages (£5k a week)
Debt increased under Gutterman (he claims it was not his fault)
Gutterman toys with the idea of a property deal involving the racecourse to outrage from fans
Gutterman sold club to Hamilton
Hamilton signed the ground into his own name without telling anyone
Hamilton has now issued 12 months notice on the football club to leave the Racecourse
This web of intrigue was only uncovered by several prominent members of the fans community who kept digging until they realised what was happening.

Cheers TBH. that is bloody awful. Laughing at your rivals is all well and good but this is just a plain scandal, it has nothing to do with Wrexham Football Club. I laughed my tits off at Leeds going down, as it was all down to poorly managed football matters (well, mainly). I also never wanted them to fold and didn't think they would. This is theft. I feel really sorry for them. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone.

Pretty good summary. Important point to note though is that Guterman never owned the club, but simply was a front for Hamilton and then sorted out the freehold on the Racecourse for his buddy at a 'nice price'. Guterman is skint now apparantl although involved in a takeover bid Nice guy. Friends with our Chief Executive.

Nice guy. Friends with our Chief Executive. Not too good friends I hope. The whole thing stinks. I don't know how these people sleep at night, they are essentially robbing from nearly every member of the community, but because they aren't actually going into their houses, instead using legal means, they are accepted members of society. Legally right and morally right are, as usual, far from the same thing. This has really p**sed me off.

Right, I meant became chairman, didn;t realise he had never owned it, so Hamilton was thw shady background figure all along? That means Wingrove must have known Hamilton was there all along? This is the same Bill Wingrove who said "What exactly is Mark Gutterman guilty of?" Shall we make a list? Oh Yeah, McKie, I didn;t add that Wrexham were placed in Administration because Hamilton is now refusing to sell the club unless he can make a profit of something like £1.5 million on the club itself, whose debts are now well into the millions www.red-passion.com is where ot get the full story, it is truly shocking But then as Phil will tell you, you don't have to be ethical in business

Bill Wingrove's been answering questions down at Wrexham CID regarding missing gate money at Wrexham last season. Mark Guterman is a first class ****. Bill Wingrove must have known about Alex Hamilton. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him, I urge all true Shrewsbury fans to watch him. We are still positive and fighting for our club. By the way we've got a number of Fund Raising schemes that even Wrexham haters can join in if you like Cheers
