Because of the lack of alternative drinking places then yes I would on match days, but no I wouldn't at any other time as the ground is too far out of the way.

Woudl you be interested in forming/ joining darts, pool, dominoes teams etc. Trying to gage what type of facility the supporters should be psuhing for? Ta Ade Plimmer Ade I was a the meeting and Sat through it all For me a big room is needed 200-300 people maybe more with chairs and tables- pool table, Darts Board (Which can be moved when the games are on) , A FRUITY not a 5 p one . Also some notice boards for fan related stuff like ASFC and things. Big bar so we don’t have queuing problems cos if anything is going to scare people ff using it its queuing!!!! Also need to have Sky on and be open during the week – would be class to go up the New meadow to watch big games and catch highlights after town games. With big screen and a few smaller ones (like the Beacon) This venue could be used all the time then for B and A, ASFC events ect and even the clubs end of year stuff!!!! As for teams – well being crap at both Pool and Darts and not 60 (so doms is out) I would not join a team but ask scooter im getting better at darts so give me a few years and I might!!!! I think it needs to be a cross between a traditional pub and a student union!!!! I also think this needs to be something once the room size is sorted that is handed over to ALL the fans not just members of what ever official supporters groups. This sort of thing helps get the message out to B and A Plim but I really think the rest of the fans in general need to be made aware of the situation and give there views on what they want don’t want – I see the fanzine as a good place to start??? Nice to see some one start the ball rolling though mate – well done

matchdays yes,
maybe with the facilities being put in place, the b+a 5-aside crew would go for a beer (and coke for Geoff) after the session?

I would guess we would be playing up there on the community pitchs by then anyway!!! Which is another point - if the pitchs are well used during the week - incourage people to go in there after playing and not go to a pub, its the constant trade like that that would really make the place some money!!!!

hows about one big room with with a few smaller rooms off of the big room.
It would be great for future community use and hire out,as the small rooms could be hired out leaving the big main room/bar.

Definately before games and immediately after. Probably not otherwise, because it would mean driving there. As i said before, if the facility is not there then people will go elsewhere, which means income lost. Also means a lot of people arriving at last minute = traffic congestion and car parking in the wrong places. Would seriously hope for some real ales on - surely Woods will supply, they are keen Town supporters

definitley matchdays and whenever possible otherwise. To join the Shrewsbury and District Darts and Domino league requires a vote to join at the AGM, but normally there are plenty of teams that drop out so most teams get automatic selection. If a good effort is made for a darts pitch, ie. decent oche throwing area and lighting, I wouldn't have thought you wouldn't have any difficulty in getting a reasonable team playing from there. It would be very important to make sure the place is being used regular and because there is only the Brooklands and Charles Darwin in the vicinity there would be a good chance that people from Meole Brace and Sutton farm might use it on a regular basis

Would use it match days, before and after(Then into town) Would also support any events held there, quiz nights, discos, etc, etc. The darts, doms, and pool teams are a great idea.

The main time of the week that bar should be making money is between 11 and 3pm on a Saturday. To do this you need:
1. a capacity of at least 200. Anything much smaller would be shambolic 2. well trained and plentiful bar staff 3. Food 4. Sky 5. Well designed seating areas. 6. Decent beer and cheapish drinks for kids
A simple but effective way of ensuring the place is packed.
The board also need to remember that the bar does not just accomodate people going to the match, it also entices people much more to actually come to the new ground.
The other scenario is to let people carry on drinking in the Crown, Dun Cow etc. and they'll come to the ground for 2.55pm, if at all.

I would definitely use it on match days with my son who travels down from Wakefield.
As I don't live in Shrewsbury other days would be few and far between - although I could be tempted if I came in shopping and there was food available.

Defo on matchdays, Welshshrew has pretty much listed what would go down well with the supporters and the real ale would cetainly be the icing on the cake for me I was very impressed with the set-up at Notts County, looks like it could have held a few people, quality food at a decent price and the only downside is the time taken to serve, which in turn ment lost revenue. I wouldn't use it so much in the week, but for example if there was a game of 5-a-side up there then I would go for a beer after as would most.

I would definitely use the bar on matchdays both before and after the game. I'd also use it during the week as well to watch the big matches on sky (providing they have it). Setting up sports teams is an excellant idea as well, i'd probably only be interested in Pool myself but i'm sure there would be plenty of people wishing to play pool, darts and dominoes. I agree it needs to be open all through the week so people can pop for a pint after playing footie/5 a-side up there instead of going to the Brooklands or Darwin instead for example.

My fellow supporters and myself always go to the Nags Head before and after the games.
Now much as we love Russ we would rather give our money to the club. Funnily enough we talked about it on Saturday and decided we needed Walsall sized Function rooms and would happily drink there before the match and maybe a pint or 2 after before attempting to reach town via the pubs in Belle Vue.
Yes definately

Can someone please clarify for me if bar's are going to be placed in the concourse's under the stands such as Stoke or Telford. I am fully supportive of a fans bar but am aware that people i go to match's with would prefer to gather in the concourses and watch T.V 's and place a bet or two.

Plenty of good points. The place needs to be a step above a bog standard social club in order to maintain a 7 day income. The Beacon is a great model to use.
The club could be the sort of place if done properly that could host County pool/darts matches as well as local teams, as there is not really a decent venue in Shrewsbury that can do this.
Will it also be linked into the conference/ hospitality suites? To create a venue big enough to be opened out to host weddings/ big functions would be a really decent moneyspinner.
Basically we don't want to end up with a room that is great for packing loads in on matchdays but has no character. There can still be an identity with STFC with loads of artefacts/ photos but it needs to be as near to a modern pub as we can possibly get it. To do that will take some hard work and money but we have to do it to create a facility that will help the club survive.

I would definitely use it, matchdays and other times. It needs to be big enough to hold other functions in the week and at weekends. Maybe make it a members club and pay a yearly subscription. If you are not a member you would pay a entry fee on a matchday.

wny dont they speak to other clubs such at Torquay (boots and laces), kiddie, notts county, etc all who have good clubs...

Should the supporter clubs be joining forvces to begin saving for this bar/suit facility?
After all the more money the fans can stump up for it the more likely they are to have greater say in the decsion making surely???
