Mystery Illness Strikes the Vets
A unconfirmed source today sold his world exclusive story to the Star and told us that “there is a mystery virus in the Vets team, as Skunkie and JP have the flu”. This news must come as a blow to Jamo2 who was preparing to face the Under 20’s with a fully fit squad. The Shrewsbury medical team have been called in and the player will get the best treatment available to them, but it is believed that the bug might spread and the management of the vets are monitoring the situation carefully. The loss of Jp and Skunkie should be a massive blow as both players are regarded in some sections of the media as “one to watch”. From a neutrals point of view its hoped they will pull through
Whitfield and fagin Head to head and feeling the pressure
As the odds for the game are published the first choice forward players for the Vets and Under 20’s can feel the pressure and there odds point towardthem being the “make or break” players of the game. We discussed this with them and found there to be differing reactions. When talking to Whitfield he was seen have a air of calm before the game “ I have had pressure all my career and tomorrow will be no different, the odds mean nothing to me as long as the team wins and we put on a good show that’s all I care about”. But fagin a different approach to the pressure “I love the pressure, it makes me want to play better and prove all the people placing there faith and cash on me that they were right” And he joked “ its nice to see im so well thought of although the odds are still to long for me!!!” Whatever the bookies might think there are no doubts that these two players will play an important role in the game come Saturday.
Soft Center???
Debate has raged all week as to whether the untested centerback pairing of Stu_P and Joey will click and work on the big stage. It’s clear that both have talent as can be seen in the work put in at the press day, but the untested nature of the two might be an area that the vets can capitalise on. When asked about the combination with Stu_P, Joey was in a positive mood. “Yeah the training s gone very well and we have worked on a lot together, it strange it fells like we have been playing together for years and a unit the back 4 feels strong” Stu_P’s only concern was set pieces “ I think I am happy with the look of the back 4 but im concerned about the lack of height we might have in the set piece department, I know the vets will be looking to hoof it into the box a lot so the reading of the game is going to very important”
Local Celebs have there say
With the game receiving some much attention its seems only fair that the other nation obsession – that of the cult of celebrity is allowed there say. Media Tycoon Phill Thomas (now based in London) had this to say
“Ant Thomas will be the big part player for the U-20's team as he has been known to both make and break the teams he has previously played for.
Although the U20's team will have a strong midfield they make struggle up-front with a lack of strength against the experienced Vets backline.
Digger dave will be hoping to build on this excellent performance against the ASFC and he will be the one player to watch for the Vets team.”
And At the specially arranged press conference Manager of the senior Shrewsbury team – Jimmy Quinn commented.
“ we have had some of them watched from both sides and its seems like the bit players will be Macklin in the midfield for the Under 20’s and The player manager of the Vets Jamo is a tidy player as well – but I will go with the kids to get a some what surprising win 2-1”
Fan and Singer with Liberty X Norge commented – “im going to be there, and I can see Whitfield being the key man but I just hope it’s a good game”
Lastly Gareth Hopkins who is currenly competing on channel 4’s “ the games” commented “ I cant make the match but I think the Vetreans have the experience to do the job and take the three points home with them, but Ty in goal will make it hard for them”
