Once again we play a decent side in a game we want to win.No passion from the team, No passion from the bench,When the hell are we going to get a performance from the town in the games when it matters,Any team talking is negative on the pitch,You cant start a game with three fowards and the awful midfield we have at the club,We never take the game to the other side untill a panic sets in,Giving away home advantage,Seeing we cant win yesterday and the poor display i think the play-offs will be a disapointment waiting to happen

Have to agree with most of your points,Skunkie lad. I've been supporting STFC for over 35 years and I have to say that certainly over the last 10 years, apart from the few execptions, we have been served up some pretty miserable fare.
I think that by the "Drip" effect,we have come to accept mediocre as the norm. In days gone by, we may not have had the most skilful of sides, but you could always guarantee 110% effort towards the cause. Something very much lacking these days,in my opinion. What we may now consider a reasonable performance, would have been judged abysmal by these players forebears.
I sometimes fear for the future of us paying supporters and should we make it out of this league, I wouldn't be too confident of not repeating the events of 12 months ago.

It beggars belief sometimes. Telford have this season beaten Brentford 3-0, Crewe away 1-0 and some people think we should walk all over them. Gentlemen we are 5th in the Conference and WE WILL get a play-off position, then we are in the hands of Quinn and his team..have some faith in them!

the words gate, horse and bolted spring to mind. We should have been agitated about Towns performances long ago; as JP quite rightly points out, we are 5th in the Conference, a measure of how far we have come, or not.

It does measure how far we have dropped, but saying that your only as good as what division you are in. We are a top 5 conf side looking to get up at the top.
When I look back at programme's and Meadow Memories its hard to take in that we are in non league football, but we just have to deal with it.

when we become a Football League team again, how do we as supporters sustain our League status and help grow the club? Sitting back and accepting our fate obviously doesn't work.

It is truly a pity that we stood back last season and not done something after Boston away, but looking back wont solve anything. A move to a new staduim Im certain will help.

looking back provides lessons learned, hopefully. The town in general took the football club for granted, and only awoke to the club when League status was lost. I agree a new stadium will arouse new interest ala Middlesborough and Derby when they were in the Premiership, it's a shame it will be away from Gay Meadow.

Ps.The days that I'm talking about occurred before half the posters on this site were born. I feel sorry for you. You don't know what a GREAT Shrewsbury side was. If you accept the "football" dished up to you now as being "the Norm",then God help you. Over to you Welshshrew.

Duncow: fans are part of the blame for this clubs downfall, had we as in the whole lot of us not stood back and glazed over our rubbish season with Town 2 Everton 1 by demanding changes then maybe, just maybe things might be different. Continuing to moan does nothing, you want something done then DO IT!

As I said when I signed up, I've only been a fan since 1992/93 and so don't remember the best days. However, I don't thing there is as much passion now as there was even then. I felt really disappointed last night at achieving only a draw - not because I think we have an automatic right to beat to Telford but because of the lack of passion in the first half.
I have to hand it to the Sammy Aiston Appreciation Society - he made one hell of a difference.
Yes we did all sit back last season and expect things to be alright and that is a lesson we have now learned the hard way. It may be as well to remind Mr. Quinn and our present captain that we do not and will not accept half hearted performances anymore.
We all wear our lions with pride and so should our players.

The first half yesterday was down to poor tactics. Should have been 4-4-2, we left too much room on the wings and left our full backs with too much to do. Brought Sam on and sorted it plus gave them something to think about.

The crowd could see the tactics were wrong ,our side unbalenced, this problem of tacics seems to crop up every week .How much advice is JQ taking or is given by his staff,i have never heard a good quiet manager from the dugout.Lets have some more Fire And Brimstone from JQ.

Been behind him from the start,as everyone gave him a clean slate, but i am beginning to wonder if he has that extra drive and fire with Shrewsbury to make him a winner.

I think his reactions when we scored yesterday spoke a great deal for him. Jumping around like a supporter.
After last season unless we go back up straight away anyone who took over would be on a non starter.
We just have to give him a chance.

Some people need to get a reality check. We are no longer a team of division one quality but a team having to re-build in the Conference.Performances will of course not be of the standard that some of us have witnessed in the past, other wise all our players would now be all playing at that level. What we do have is a nucleus of younger players that with the right encouragement could turn our fortunes around. My only fear is that they won't stay very long if they are contiually critisised.

Continuing to moan does nothing, you want something done then DO IT! problem is JP, what can us fans really do? Quinn picks the team and chooses the tactics - we cant infuence that, he has his own ideas. for me its 4-4-2 with Sammy playing for sure - having him as a sub is like Shearer being on the bench recently - criminal. but we do deserve to see 100% commitment and effort - which has been sadly lacking in a few games, particularly away.

I was on about last season. If we had caused a fuss we could have got a change in manager that might have saved us. If we didnt have a chance this season I would be complaining .

Over to me? Well, rather than moan like an old fart about the old days and knock people for taking a little bit of pleasure in the fact we are achieving a little in our current league, I'll keep doing the 200 mile round trips to home games, keep turning up at the umbrella group meetings, keep helping out with articles for the programme when needed, keep supporting the lads at away games, keep enjoying the friendships I've made through B&A, keep playing in exile matches, and keep enjoying unbeaten runs. I do sod all compared to others involved with the club (Ade P, Whits, Ant, Chris Smith and other more dedicated fans) but whilst all of those moan and criticise performances, they all do so much good for the football club. So if I want to argue with you and say that 1-1 draws at home to Telford are not wrist-slitting moments in my life, then I most probably will.

History very rarely lies. Inorder; We are, We were, Very little left. People like yourgoodself doubt the benefits of the past. I did when I was your age. My only consolation is that when I sit my grandchildren on my knee(hopefully), I can recount to them my experiences of following STFC through some of the finest hours that the club experienced, with some of the finest players ever to grace "the shirt".
I only hope that should you find yourself in a similar position in years to come, you can find more to tell them than you were 5th in the Conference.
