I doubt that Aussie said about Peer to Jake as Ratcliffe signed Peer.

Evo left the club early so they could get a fee, which also affected his chances of getting a big signing on fee when he was free that summer.
He played for 20 minutes in the two games against Croatia and Czech Rep.

Jack Keay...classy defender in old Div 3 Championship-winning team. Jim Holton - ok so he went to Man Utd. I think we may have found it difficult to have held onto him. Wardle, Evans and Griffiths and Peer.

Thought this was a thread about players the club had made a mistake in getting rid of, ir Freeing?
If so half the suggested players were sold.
From my 11years or whatever, I have to say that the releasing of Currie (sorry if I got the price wrong, just thought it was £70k) and Benny Gall (My hero) were big mistakes in my opinion.
However the releasing of Bomber has to have been the most rediculess decision ever, all he wanted was a longer contract on reasonable terms, comparible with his team mates (Dear old Fred did agree with him tho') and thus we lost half of our central defense partnership. Big mistake, as he just continued to blossm after his spell at the club.

Sorry, my error again. The partnership of Peer and Wilding has just lodged itself in my head, and I can't see Pete alongside anyone else in the centre of the park. A bit like Gerrard and Scholes, those two.

The remark was, as the French say, tongue en chic.

I think you're talking about the Grimsby FA cup game.
I'm sure he was short-sighted. If a long range shot came in he'd never react until the bll was a few yards away from him. I'm also led to believe that Gall didn't like diving much in training

Frankie Bennett! A class player who's entire career was about 90 games over 10 years. Stolen by Ian Holloway while on loan to us after he'd run rings round him as we beat Rovers 2-0 I think.
Junior Bent! His goalscoring was a legend at Bristol City.

Rob we've had this debate before and I'm afraid that Benny Gall doesn't get any better with age. He was possibly the worst keeper we've had. Iagree about Currie though could have been top class had he had better attitude and a bit of pace. I remember first seeing him when he was on loan to us (york away I think). He was doing things that the rest of the team couldn't believe. Sadly he didn't do them often enough when we finally bought him.

Isn't it always the way with loan signings, they look class when on loan and as soon as they get a permanent deal they end up crap.Peter Whiston is a classic example.

Surely Tim Clarke was the worst keeper we've ever had! Ron Green in his first spell was certainly pretty poor too...

I thought Pete Whiston was the best centre half we'd signed in a long time, until his injury. Seen none better since. (Redmile? Winstanley? Overson? Throb? ?)
