Just thinking ahead to the proposed open meeting shrewsTRUST will be holding next month, these are my good and bad points so far about new stadium. I've also tried to come up with some workable solutions. Can you guys and gals have a think. Again, think of the points but what about solutions too? Have a go.
Good
Fantatsic stadium - views and general facilities excellent. Pitch - amazing Park and Ride - very good. Supporters Bus Scheme - very good. Ticktes themselves - really good quality. Shirt quality - excellent
Bad
Lack of proper supporters bar Ticketing issues - queues for - (SOLUTION - seel at other outlets - Pubs linked to Supporters Bus Scheme - all in one ticket?) Lack of queueing system for bar/ buffets - West and South Stand Lack of notice for bar shutting, needs to audible and said over tannoy, and via scoreboard? (Actual cant remember hearing the tannoy in the concourses or outside) Need for second entrance/ exit to take pressure off Oteley Road - gate needs to be put in place to allow direct access from Sainsbury entrance (footpath) rather than going all the way around - people actually got through gap in fence by training pitch Park and Ride bus stops - shelter for fans.
Needs improving
Scoreboard - needs score updates, messages at half time Concourses - a lick of paint to remove the breeze block cold feel. Concourses - proper lined walkways to allow free passage Concourses - need to install the TV screens Message boards for fans groups and adverts in concourses, toilets (ie Wetherspoons stylie) Club Shop - great facility. Way too small Bar - open at half time. Programme sales - difficult to find sellers - (SOLUTION - Central points around ground - selling in pubs, newsgents before game?) Lighting on Oteley Road. Better signage coming onto site - not knowing where to go etc. External STFC signs on stands. New stewards - interaction with fans.
Issues sorted
Tannoy - seemed audible from the West Stand - see above note. Bus stops for park and ride - lot better since Man City. English XXL sized shirts.

Brilliant post - Of all your points, I believe that the access up Oteley road needs to be sorted immediatley as it is very poor

Regarding ticketing, if we all have a members card / number, can't we order tickets on-line by credit card against our member number, and then simply swipe our members card at ticket office and take our tickets in an instant. You could even specify where you want to pick your tickets up from, thus encouraging the suggestion for outlets around the town. Better still, with technology, you swipe your members card at your allocated turnstile having paid on-line and bingo, you are in! Takes away the need for transactions at the ground and speeds the whole process up. The facility should be there on -line to set up your own account with the club? If people can acquire tickets on-line, casual support would be attracted.

A fair few fans like a bet on the football. Is there any plans to get a bookies involved with the new ground? Messageboards in and around the ground is a very good idea to provide details of events, away travel, future ticket arrangements (for example, the Fulham game).

"Shirt quality - excellent"
I don't think that is an uncontreversial point.

Great idea REVAP. Instead of supporters continually slagging off the club on this website, let's put all the ideas down on paper and approach the club not with moans but with suggestions and I am sure SW will look at them and see how things can be improved.

I know the people selling the Golden Gamble tickets want to be in a place where they get access to the largest amount of people, but it causes serious congestion with them standing right by the turnstyles.
Can use be made of the corners of the ground with a programme kiosk?

My thoughts (adding on to the initial post:
Good
Parking - not as big an issue as was first feared
Atmosphere - good
Shirts - material much better
Buffets - quality of food and prices a vast improvement on Gay Meadow.
Bad
Felt badge on shirts - tacky
Ticketing issues - not enough preparation I'm afraid. Granted there have been some time delays due to Wembley and moving to the new stadium but the online system should have been sorted weeks ago.
No reduced prices for Carling Cup games - we're missing out

"Shirt quality - excellent" I don't think that is an uncontreversial point. Sean, sorry, I've just seen the thread about quality. Come to think about it I've looked at Greenhous on my shirt and thought it was fadeing a bit. I'll have a look again tonight as I washed it over the weekend. I hope it's not that, cos I think the quality is a lot better than previous. Ok, will add to list.

On the subject of a second enterance - ala behind sainsburys, work men were up there before, drilling at the green fence, so expect a 2nd enterance!

Spare a thought for the away fan. As confusing at it is for the home supporter, it must be a nightmare for the away fans. They see signs indicating the stadium and signs stopping parking on nearby housing estates but there are no signs showing them where they can park.

Been on clubs visiting us and saw very little info on Bradford's and Colchester's site with regards parking restrictions etc. I know parking spaces are made available but it was interesting seeing people walking all the way down Oteley Road to Wenlock Road, where I guessed they'd parked.

I would like to hear the boards feelings about a standalone supporters bar. The Club and Jenny's catering could gain some serious money every day of the week if a Club sponsored bar was built on the grounds of the New Meadow. I'm sure there would be plenty of supporters and local residents would use the facility if available. eg. more affordable pub type lunches, Sat Tv, pool darts etc. I know this old ground being covered, but now the New meadow is completed surely the Club ought to take regular supporters views on this issue. Everything else you have covered very well Ade Otley Rd being the most important issue of them all. I heard a Bradford City fan comment that the road was a death trap and someone will get killed or seriously injured sooner rather than later.

An individual needs to write to SABC to formally complain about the state of the paths along Oteley Road holding them fully liable for any slips and trips and god forbid anything more serious.

Good: Acoustics. Pitch. HHS' new shorts View from the stands. Results & performances thus far. Kit looks great. Needs improving: Scoreboard. Worked fine up until kick off, then didnt come back on till 5mins to go in the first half. No signage for Ticketing windows/Clubshop/main Entrance. Nothing on the outside of the stadium to announce STFC to the world. Only 1 hand dryer in the gents (family stand). No lighting in the toilet cubicles. Need that when the kids are making a deposit No queing system in place at the buffet. Some colour in the concourse would be nice. Bad: Club badge

A fair few fans like a bet on the football. Is there any plans to get a bookies involved with the new ground? think that is a very good idea. Will be a happy man when the tv screens are in and the online ticketing finally works. Supporters bar is also a good idea, if supporters are encouraged to buy tickets as early before matches as possible it would be good to have somewhere on site to watch the early prem kick off. I am sure plenty of fans would rather have a pint there than at the alternative nearby pubs and it could earn the club a bit of extra money.

To add to the good points The disabled facilities a very impressive indeed and have attracted many more fans in wheelchairs I would say the stewarding in my experience is generally better the coffee is very good indeed
It is great to have a scoreboard and in my opinion it is a pretty good one
Although programmes are now sold inside the ground it would be great to have some outside too or have I just missed them?
There si a tremendous atmosphere much better than I expected if I am honest Tannoy much better but still not good enough
I am looking forward to visiting the restaurant

the shirts are awful . the stitching is falling apart and the logos are very badly faded . 0/10 ! the farce over the 0871 number . give us a 01743 number and quickly. 0/10 ! the ticketing hours from the ground . 0/10 ! these are problems that can be easily rectified if they are willing to swallow their pride

One small thought. Is there any chance that somewhere in the new ground we could find a place to at least represent in some way the clubs history? Eg pictures in restaurant or board room or elswhere of Arthur Rowley ,Alf Wood famous matches etc etc etc Perhaps a visual way of showing in a limited way that although we are at a new ground we are not a new club
Just a thought I havent been all over the offices so its possible these things are there already

Good...as RBA has said the disabled facilities are fantastic, the whole match experience from getting there to leaving is a joy !! Fantastic stadium PA system now seems to be working far better no problems Saturday in the South Stand or concourse.
Needs improving.... some sort of marked area for queuing for the buffets Concourse and toilets brightened up with a lick of paint or some sort of smart finish if at all possible.
Bad........Oteley Road, lighting, pavements as already said above.
other issues the score board, problems seeing it have been noted and a remedy is being sort, as for information being displayed on it, its a bit of a learning curve for its operators at the moment, it will I'm sure get better.
I'm also expecting quite an assault in the local rags from residents about parking, for instance there is a petition in Meole post office about parking and apparently a complaint from arriva, perhaps a plea from fans groups for supporters not to park in these areas might help and in turn help the club, along with urging the council to see sense and open up Meole P&R to fans.

Unfortunately it has already started with a letter in the paper & phonecall to Radio Shropshire. That said, I am amazed at how quiet SARA have been.

Just a thought with regards to the scrum for the West Stand buffet at half time. Even though they can't serve beer at the moment, is there any reason why both halves can't be open for serving of food, thus spreading the serving area?
